Pictures of myself over the last few years aren`t very Aspie (smiling, appropriate eye contact, etc.) but nearly every picture of me as a kid is totally Aspie. I was always distracted, uncomfortable around people, and in my own little world.

Example below: the one on the left was when I was 6 and the one on the right was when I was 9.

This misdiagnosis caused me significant stress, which lessened upon finding out the truth about myself from my current and past long-term therapists - that I am an anxious and highly sensitive person but do not have an autism spectrum disorder.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

Still trying to figure out what to do with my hands and trying to maintain the right posture, so my face ended up looking really creepy.

Image

I stopped this guy and started petting his dog, ignoring everyone else I was out with for a period of time. The guy and the group I was with didn't mind, but this just shows my preference for animals over humans when given the choice.

Edit: Ahh, I just found this old one... showing my ridiculous hypermobility in my elbow as well as this totally blank expression (and why are my eyes closed?). This was on one of my first dates with my now husband... yeah...

Image

Oh, and this... at my own birthday party, when they were singing me "Happy Birthday"... I was running away with my hands over my ears.

...mine wasn't even a photo of me...it was a photo I found on the internet representing how I feel. Therefore it fit the title of the thread, as "your best Aspie pic". I wouldn't post a picture of me.

Ok so i'll be honest: I hate being photographed, so there aren't many photographs of me besides pictures i've taken myself which is less scary in my opinion. Anyway trying to find aspie'ish photos, i chose a picture of me as a kid (really weird one), and a photograph from around 2011:

Image
(The above is from around 1994, at my grandmothers house - at that age i used to dress up every time we visit her, and start singing out loud for them all - guess i didn't expect the camera to pop out at that moment the photo was taken xD)

Image
(From 2011, obviously a webcam photo. That's how i end up looking at most pictures - just a nonchalant face, very rarely smiling - feels awkward)

You guys are so lame. There's like two awkward people so far.

Image

I'd get worse ones but they're outright creepy and it's too hard to black out 20 faces on a tablet. And I think I deserve a ribbon for having the same pose as the random guy behind me.

Sorry, as an NT, the vast majority look like awkward high school year book pictures. Or awkward selfies. There are only three that pinged my Aspie-dar.

3.mittens87. Stands out for extra filthy blue jeans, compared to everyone else and no team tee shirt. My husband Fior would have done that. Sensory comfort over style and conformity. You have to be hard core not to even blend in with even a dark colored shirt.

2. Kanashimo. The anxiety radiates from that picture. You look like you'd rather be anywhere else but there. You look miserable.

1. girly aspie. Do I know that flat affect. Fior does that all the time. Virtually emotionless, and borderline creepy to most NTs. I've only seen it with folks with ASD. I don't think I could make myself look like that, even if I tried really hard. It is a very lovely picture. I like the artistic aspect of it.

As for the rest, they may look goofy, and I don't doubt the miserable factor while they were being taken, but they didn't sceam Aspie. As an extroverted NT, I have boat loads of similar pictures. I hate having my picture taken.

I would like to post one of Fior's, but have to ask permission first.

Inspired by yellowtamarin, here's some more social awkwardness:

Image

We were posing for a group picture. Yeah, the one on the right, who I wasn't even looking towards or expressing any body language about? Dating him at the time. Guys I'm awkwardly grimacing at? Friends and roommates I spent time with every day, back then. How am I only now discovering that I'm an aspie? Oh, retrospect.

Also, climbing on things is fun:

Image

Or, could it be? Rocking on playground equipment, while not making eye contact with friend I am talking to, dressed inappropriately for the weather? Yeah, I think this is the one.

Image

Okay, I'm done.

I hope you don't mind me saying so, but you are a very beautiful woman, awkward or not!

long time colegue leaving. not interested in the sentimental crap involved with someone leaving and certainly not waving, looking at a camera and saying something ridiculously cheesy.

... set up my screening station away from all the others (clustered to the far right of where I am, near the beachline).

How do you spot the aspie? He's the only one working.

I am not sure that this is necessarily an "aspie" issue, but I have a tendency to appear drunk, stoned, or otherwise intoxicated in many of my photographs (though I assure you that I am completely and utterly sober).
