I simply cannot sleep on my back. Even that time I stayed up for 24 hours to do a sleep test. I got the test guy to move the electrodes so I could lie on my side, I fell asleep instantly then.

I sleep on my sides alternating left to right with my right leg up every hour or less during the night. No leg up=no sleep. If I cannot sleep I try on my stomach with both both arms tucked under me. If I still cannot sleep I go to a couch or watch some tv.

One of my arms is hugging/laying underneath my pillow to increase fluffiness and the other is slumped against or under my chest.

This is my sleeping position too. I usually prefer the right arm underneath the pillow, nose pointing left.

I alternate stomach and back. I can't sleep on one side because I'm scared of cutting off circulation to the arm underneath (weird, I know), am worried about hurting my neck sleeping all the time on my stomach because of your head being to the side, and I don't want to choke on my tongue sleeping on my back! Luckily, I don't spend much time in bed :p

how I sleep seems to effect my dreams

Me too!

I used to sleep in a full fetal position. But I kept having nightmares where my legs would buckle underneath me while I was trying to run (either away from or to something). I eventually figured out that if I slept with my legs straight, I would run OK in my dreams.

Generally I sleep on my left side, but for the past few nights I've had to sleep on my back due to a severely sprained rib on my left side. Well, for the past few days it's not so much been sleeping as it is dozing from all the oxycodone I've had to take to make the pain tolerable.
