I do this sometimes. I'll say something, then I'll whisper it back to myself.

Who here as a problem of repeating what they say over and over?

I do. I sometimes expect a response from people about what I say, and they say "ENOUGH! STOP!"

Additionally, I lost a friend because I kept calling her constantly around the holiday in 2007 because I wanted to see her. Lesson learned for me.......... and this is why I don't have a GF. :(

This is something that my wife is constantly getting onto me about! "Hey babe! Guess What," is a favorite one for me to repeat over and over again. After a while she has to tell me to shut up and watch some Star Trek with her or something to shut me up. Then I spend over an hour repeating time and time again why I think that both Spock and Data would be Aspies were they real, and start trying to analyze the technology, earning me weird looks and reminders to quite down.

I don't necessarily repeat myself a lot, though I do have palalia and verbalise the thoughts in my head frequently, especially when scripting a phone call or conversation that I'm anxous about having. When I'm faced with an uncertain situation, I tend to get "stuck" on the subject and repeatedly bombard those around me with questions, even if they don't know the answers. It's almost as if I get as much comfort out of asking the questions as I do out of hearing the answers.

If I don't get a blindingly obvious indication that the person I'm talking to has taken in all I have said and understood it, I will repeat it over and over. Just trusting that you have heard me is not enough, you have to tell meeeeee!
Also I repeat myself if I want to get the point across, just one utterance doesn't do it justice a lot of the time. I'll get stuck in a word rut.

I think I do this to. Most of the time I find myself wanting to repeat something, but I actively stop myself from doing it.

I also find that I tend to read things that I've written over and over again. I think I get a feeling of satisfaction at properly expressing my thoughts into words and crafting perfect sentences. I re-read it to feel the satisfaction again.

I'll probably come back and read this post later.

I do the same thing too. Also, if I am reading a book which becomes a "favourite" then I will re-read the book several times and even re-read particular passages over and over several times too!
