I don't mind - if it's the opposite sex.

It depends. I have a few friends who i can't get enough hugs from, whenever i have a partner i LOVE them, hugging them almost all the time. Other Blokes.. well i will if i know they're a good mate and i won't get the mick taken out of me but it's very rare, only if i'm saying goodbye or hi to somebody i really like who i haven't/aren't going to see for awhile

I like hugs, but only from a girl. She can be someone I date, a friend, a coworker, or an escort. I enjoy those hugs whenever an opportunity presents itself. Over the years, I learned to read cues from the hug that the girl gives me, and hug her back accordingly. Since I enjoy hugs a lot, I won't be comfortable dating a girl who doesn't like them. However, I can't bring myself to hug a guy, and when I do, it more like a handshake with a slap on the back.

Family members are a different story. I lived in a family where yelling, punishing, and arguing was the norm, and regular hugs were something that ceased almost completely after I turned five. (My parents weren't the hugging type to begin with.) As a result, I've become very cold and calculating. So if one of my parents suddenly reached for a hug, I'd get really confused and probably be uncomfortable with the whole thing.

I love hugs, but am too shy to give them to people. I know girls like hugs, but I have to wait until a girl wants to give me a hug (girls becasue guys don't give one another hugs normally) because I know if I started giving people hugs, as much as I like them, it might come across oddly, like its forced. Also, it may seem odd since it would not match up with my personality, I don't come across like someone who just loves people all the time.

I love hugs - but only firm ones. Slight, tender hugs feel somehow distant, and I don't like them. But a firm hug, especially from someone I'm attracted to, feels very fine.

I like hard hugs. If that makes sense.

Yeah I and my boy are like this. I am tactitly hypo-sensitive and even a bear hug I find very grounding. My ex used to freak a little when she noticed I used to squeeze my boy really hard (not in a horrible way) and this would ground him. She didn't understand why and I just, like many things with him, kinda just understood.

A sincere hug is a transfer of heavy positive emotion. It's great when you get hugged, I love it! That is, unless the person is just doing it for a laugh and to scare you. :P
I find that males don't hug other males, so naturally, if I'm getting hugged by a male that isn't a relative then it's just for a laugh and insincere. A genuine friendly hug is more likely to come from a female.
Either way, enough education on hugging, I love them in the right context. ^_^

Me and my best mates hug. It is entirely different kinda hug though it is more of a bear hug and hearty whack between the shoulder blades but it is still a sincere form of a similarity to male - female hugs. I guess a big thing is we are not gentle and we are not intimate in any way. It is more of a show of belonging and bonding than anything else.

I do have no problem hugging women. Even women who don't normally enjoy hugs or who don't know me well don't seem to mind. I am not sleazy about it. The fact that I am not usual further well-disposes me to them for some reason.

I love hugs from girls, they're always so kind and 'soft'.

But hugs from guys actually mean more to me since guys don't really give hugs to each other.
So if a guy does give you a hug, it means he's comfortable enough with you to 'break' that 'unwritten rule' and thus this means he's a very good friend of you.

Good thing for me is that i'm in this 'huggish' social circle :D

I only like internet-hugging. RL-hugging scares me somewhat.

Online hugs are great. IRL, it depends. If the person is 'naturally huggy,' or the situation is right - haven't seen each other in 2 years, certain emotional situations, whatever - then I'm comfortable. Usually  .

(((hug))) to whoever wants one. We need a 'hug' emoticon!

I didn't used to like hugs. But now I do. I like good hard hugs, unless I am in physical pain (often).

I hug ya' Zombie! Awwww Heck, figure I hug you once a day forever.
