In my dreams, I meet new friends, have interesting conversations and inspire faithful devotion. Most of the time, however, all my adventures in my dreams are spent walking alone.

Sometimes.

Who I am in my dreams varies a lot. Sometimes I'm me, sometimes I'm someone else. When I'm someone else, it varies a lot. I could be a guy, a girl, an adult, a child, any race, any orientation...

Sometimes, I'm explicitly autistic in my dreams. Sometimes it doesn't come up, but I'm similar enough to real-life me that I'm probably on the spectrum. And sometimes I'm totally different in personality. (Once, I was a really sociable, giggly teenager - at least until a guy held me hostage with a gun and I was begging and pleading for help. Oh, and my name was Elizabeth in that one, which is not my real name.)

I've also had a few dreams where I'm not even human.

For the most part I am myself, but I have experienced all of that in my dreams as well.

Yep! I remember this one dream I had, when I was in preschool or something. I was in the school's yard, flapping my hands like crazy and dancing around. Everyone thought I was crazy, but I was having the time of my life. When the wind picked up, I'd flap my hands as hard as I could, and I'd go flying ito the air, knees tucked up to my chest. It was one of the best dreams I've ever had.
There are other things, but that's the best example I could think of.

My dreams are so weird that I don't think my autism would make a difference in what happens. It's hard to tell if I'm autistic in my dreams because they are just so weird.

I think so. Sometimes I have a meltdown in my dreams.

My dreams are so off the wall that there really is no "normal" way to react to the things that happen. I'm usually sort of accepting of everything.

Yes and no.

I'm usually WAAAY weirder in my dreams than just autistic or 'normal' by any means.
Well, half the time being odd and random participant, half the time being a bodyless spectre of a witness.

It is impossible for me not to be autistic in my dreams. The only me their is the autistic me I know no other life.

My friends when they appear in drams are also autistic as well.

Hard to say, I don't really notice if I am or not. Though I can talk in my dreams when I can't in real life.

Mostly my dreams are just weird or nasty.

Yes, but in my dreams no one cares that I am and I'm often highly regarded and sought after for advice. Animals talk to me in my dreams though telepathy and I've noticed that people do too.

Make of this what you want. The only dreams remember are nightmares where I am, jumping into chaos/abyss from earth.

I behave/think the same way in my dreams as I do when I'm awake, so my dreams are about my anxiety, my dogs, and my anxiety about my dogs. I guess I wouldn't classify that as autistic.

I never really thought about it. I do have very vivid, detailed and bizarre dreams, to the point where people say I'm making them up :? (well, my brain made them up...?! how can a dream be 'too weird'?)

I am also capable of dreaming entire 'stories' or 'episodes' in my head. In those dreams I'm not part of the action at all, I'm just watching it all unfold. They are pleasingly coherent stories too, usually continuations of a book I'm reading or a TV show. I think this might be an autistic thing, I've never met anyone else who does it.

I was notably autistic in one dream, though. I was a serial murderer and I'd been on the run, but I was tired of running so I went to hand myself in to the detective. When I did, he basically started trying to wind me up. First he made out that he'd outsmarted me and caught me, but he hadn't because I'd surrendered myself. When I didn't rise to his taunting he tried to 'trigger' autistic behaviour in me by getting out a roll of stabilo pens and putting them out of colour order. He was trying to make me look crazy, but he clearly didn't 'get' ASD, and it didn't work. That's the only dream where autism was a theme/topic though.

I'm not certain. My dreams can get fairly surreal.

I do know that in the dream state, I can emote normally...appropriately express how I feel...while in real life I don't know how to.

I actually never thought about it. My dreams have always been all over. One time I dreaed about I was a super hero so I was flying and I had to help my family and there was some magic football I had to keep from the enemies. Another dream I had was our neighbor up the road from us sold his land and moved and all these mobile homes came in, these manufactured homes and lot of the kids who lived there were all bullies so they all terrorized me causing me to skip school and I was facing more trouble from school because of it, another time I dreamed about that the whole world decided to bully me so everyone from around the world was mean to me and I saw a middle aged man on my property and I looked out my bedroom window and he starts saying to me "get away from me," another time I dreamed about I was having a miscarriage with my son and I was in Wisconsin when it happened. Another time I dreamed about Frankie being murdered by one of his enemies and that was before I knew he threw an ax at my brothers and wrecked my parents hammock and before I knew he was the one who bullied other kids in his school so in my dream I wanted revenge on that kid and I remember dreaming about our bus driver chasing after me in her school bus and I was running from her and i was then on a motorcycle running from her and she was driving after me in the school bus so it was like Terminator 2 and this took place in my neighborhood than in a storm ditch. The there was my friend Sara and she was standing at our neighborhood entrance and she starts telling me "Eva is coming" and then there is the bus and she turns and I have to run again and my friend just stands there and does nothing. Another time I dreamed about I was in the basement at our house and my little brother comes to the basement telling me he knows what happened to his cat Tiger and he is smiling. He tells me one of his friends had killed it and skinned it and I start to cry and after that I was mad at the friend and I mourned over the death of our kitten and my brother didn't even care his cat had been killed and skinned by one of his friends.

As you can tell I have always had crazy dreams and nightmares so I never thought about myself as having anything in my dreams.
