This test basically scores your self-confidence, ability to express, filter and control emotions, and how in control of yourself you are in general. To understand others, you must first understand yourself. If you THINK you understand others but you can't come to terms with yourself, chances are you don't REALLY understand them after all...

Note, emotional intelligence is actually VERY important...for many jobs in society (face it, society is here for good and you either have to jump on board or be left behind) you need a high EQ yet perhaps not a high IQ. You could be dumb as a post but know how to work the crowds. Either way, whichever is your strength, there will be multiple paths for you in life so eh. :D

Empathy is not sympathy. Sympathy is the ability to feel pity etc for someone or something - feeling the same thing as someone else where you're not necessarily affected at all. Empathy is the ability to read, understand, interpret and correctly react to someone else's emotions or feelings at any given time. Sense when someone is pissed off at you even if they say absolutely nothing that would give it away.

But hey - like IQ, you can most definitely work on and raise your EQ :)

That's fascinating. What hypotheses do you think we should form from this data? I don't imagine the trend holds for NTs. I see them all over the EQ spectrum.

I came in at a 114.

Wonder how much is maturity (as in "done it so long it's automatic") and how much is pure burnout!

And how valid these tests are for anything at all. :wink:

Agreed. The MBTI is much more useful. My EQ is 99 and my MBTI is iNTP. What's yours?

I am an INTJ. My aspie ex is an INTP. Seem to be mainly INTJ and INTP with a few ISTJ thrown in among most aspies, from what I have seen on the various forums. IT seems to go without saying that many aspies have an interest in such tests.

I usually don't trust these things anyway. A different EQ test I took gave me a score of about 124. Once I took 3 IQ tests and got wildly different results from all of them- 86, 110 and 124 (my actual IQ as calculated by a psychologist is something like 112).
