Kids don't say things like that, not NT (non-autistic) kids either, its something adults do.

I guess I must have been going to school with adults masquerading as kids then.

Probably kids masquerading as adults, actually. I've heard autistic kids have this thing called mimicking, you know, and they try to copy NT habits to fit in

I have NEVER as a kid, heard another kid make small talk about the weather, and as an adult, I've never noticed kids doing it either.

I used to mention the weather as a kid...I used to get excited if it looked like there was going to be a Thunderstorm. I love them.

I have to say I have since diagnosis pickup a lot of NT hogwash and used it to survive in their world. "How are you" is particularly drivelling and I feel embarrassed when saying it. It can't be an expression of well-wishing since obviously we would want everybody to be fit and happy. Reminds me of a quote I saw once, written by an NT as well:

Quote:
A bore is somebody who, when asked "how are you", proceeds to answer.

Unless the business of the day between yourself and the other person is health, we just make soothing noises and change the subject. For a person with AS, if there is more time to wait until the business of the day, it's torment :(

The weather is better if we must do this, because at least we do get things happening in this country (UK). What you are supposed to in countries where the weather never changes, I just don't know.

And yes, thunderstorms are awesome; I've seen them mentioned here a lot recently; the sheer power of nature at work :D

Sorry I didn't know you were referring to adults. I just meant I never heard a kid say "looks like its going to rain", nor an adult say something like that to a kid, I've only seen adults say things like that when they talk to each other.

Aspie kids say things like...."Looks like it's going to rain", "man it's hot", "burr it's cold" etc.

Aspie kids also say things like, "how's it goin?", "what's up?", "whacha doin?" "sup?" etc.

Aspie kids also say things like, "Did you see that show last night?", did you watch the game?" Did you hear what happened to [celebrity name]?"

The schools for autistic kids I go to have ages up to 18 years old. I know how aspie people talk. And they talk like "NT" people when it comes trivial chit chat called breaking the ice.

wrong-NTs dont have an exclusive ownership over language

Exactly.

The only reason why Aspies think a whole bunch of stuff is exclusive to "NT's", is because they haven't been around ASD all the time.

Would you say that if I had been talking to another 13 year old?
I speak the same to everyone no matter what age they are.

^ Well said.

Guys, can we just stop with these attempts at categorising other people like they're some sort of different species?
It's as pointless as it is demeaning.
