In the 60s, there was a wire gadget with a magnetized wheel. The wheel did NOTHING more than spin up and down the wire ramp for about 20 inches or so.

...they still make those...my son brought one home the other night...the wheel looks like a rabbit curled into a ball (meant to be an Easter toy)...this one is called a "dizzy bunny". lol

Running the wheels of toy cars on my face...I did that alot too...I loved the feel of it. Used to love watching the washers with the glass door in front in the laundromat...still do.

My son has something called a "light chaser"...push a button and two led's on flexible tubing light up and spin around in a circle...I love that thing. Those battery operated fans with the led's are cool too....and of course the toybox isn't complete without the light up tops and yo-yo's. Although I'm dangerous with a yo-yo.

...swings I love too...used to twirl around in circles on them mostly sometimes fast other times just slowly...love those basket swings even now.

i have and still do love spinning things. Then again, I will play with anything that has moving parts. And if that isn't aspie enough for you, I go shopping for interesting things with moving parts so that I can draw up the mechanical drawings of them....I have a great torch collection. I am almost 40 and still pick things up, play with them and work them out....love it.

What is even stranger is the fact that my friends (who do not know that I am aspie) find interesting things for me to play with and draw.

Oh yeah! Thanks for reminding me! I spent hours winding the swing one way and then letting go and spinning the other! I spent hours on the swing, often with my eyes closed and seeing what images came into my mind as I swung..er...swang.. whatever!

Not only did I... I still do...

Don't worry, you're not the only one; I still do as well.
It's...fascinating, really.

I never knew spinning things was a sign of AS.

OMG I used to LOVE tire-swings at parks. I'd spend hours just spinning and spinning and spinning until I felt like I was going to throw up. I'd just sit and watch the whole world spin around me; it gave me an immense feeling of control and I felt like I was the center of the entire universe ...just spinning.
