IMO learning to write a post is just the same as learning how to bake a cake. It's not something everybody knows how to do well, but everybody is capable of exchanging time for improvement in either area if they desire. I know that in my own case, the only reason my posts aren't illegible is that I have spent so much time writing and trying to perfect my writing that I'm half decent at it.

I didn't intend to use an external example originally, but I think EzraS can convey my point here (being that he is well-known for typing). He has spent/still does spend a lot of time on forums, and can write very well at only 14 years old as a result. Ezra describes himself as moderate functioning and has stated multiple times that his online ability does not properly reflect his real life situation. Ezra's posts radiate wisdom (exceeding especially what you would expect from an early teen), which implies quite a high level of underlying intelligence. It is clear that a person's 'functioning level' is not dependent on many core aspects of the person.

I don't believe you can discern an autistic person's functioning level based on how they write, with few exceptions, such that they may not tend to include 'I' in their post or leave out some conjunctions, however this is only my observation, and it is only remotely accurate.
