I have an aversion to loud noises in general, so this would qualify. When I was elementary school age/in kindergarten, it used to be that I didn't even want to be in the same room as loud noises. I've built up tolerance, but if the noise is ongoing, I have trouble focussing.

Someone new has moved in across the street and they have a car that is as loud as a motorbike. I can't think straight when they sit there with the motor running, sometimes late at night. When they leave, they rev hell out their engine and I can still hear them when they get to the next street.

No, in fact I put a straight-pipe on my car so it sounds more like a motorcycle. I just wish it redlined higher, like 10k instead of 7.5k.

Your car will be happier if you let it sing.

Not afraid of them....just hate them. If it's really bad, it can reach the level of physical pain.

I hate motorcycles that are too loud. Once when I was waiting at a bus stop some motorcycles zoomed by and they were the loudest thing I've ever heard. They were so loud that it shook me up, and even the guy waiting in the bus stop commented on how super loud they were.

I would not say I am specifically afraid of those sounds...but if its sudden then it can startle me. Like if someone driving by loudly reeves their engine that might startle me. LOl its possible when walking to the bus in the morning to get to work I may have once or twice made rude gestures at people who do that because its the morning and I'm going to work and I don't care for that sh*t.

The worst though wasn't someone revving their engine, it was some apparently very special important person that just needed to run that red light while blaring on their car horn long before they even got to the stoplight was by far the one that pissed me off the most. It's like 'really you horrible peice of s**t, like of all the things to do at 7 in the morning when I doubt I am the only one who isn't a morning person 'you honk you goddamn horn like its the end of the world just cause you're running a red light and I guess everyone needs to know that you, very special person, had somewhere to go.'

But also sometimes when walking to bus stops and such I have had people seemingly purposely rev their engine, like they're just trying to startle me the pedestrian but I never can tell if that's actually the case or if its just a coincidence of people doing it when I happen to be walking to a bus stop or maybe sometimes it is and sometimes it is on purpose. But no the worst thing about being a pedestrian is when its you're turn to cross the street and someone in a metal machine decides they should go first and well obviously metal machine beats human pedestrians so even though I feel the vast majority of people would do everything in their power to avoid hitting a person...its easy to lose your nerve when it looks like a car is barreling towards you so even if it is your turn to cross you have to stop and let that car pass first because you don't want to risk getting run over. But like seriously if the walk symbol comes up freaking let the person waiting cross the street before trying to speed through the intersection, because earth to car driver its very uncomfortable as a pedestrian feeling the need to dodge some seemingly careless driver when crossing the street.

I've had people blast their car horn as they drove by me one time, and I knew they'd done it to f**k me off because there was no other vehicles or pedestrians about at the time, and they didn't know me because I didn't see anyone wave to me from that car. It really did startle me, the horn was so loud and so sudden that I felt the sound waves had physically hit me and it took me about an hour to get over the shock of it.

People making noise for the sake of making noise is extremely stupid, nasty and immature.

I wouldn't say I'm afraid of motorcycle sounds, but as I get easily surprised by sudden loud sounds in general, I would rather not have to deal with them. Same with loud sports cars. Luckily there are no motorcycle riders on my street.

Your motorcycle sound woes will all be solved in 10-15 years. By that time motorcycles will mostly be electric and super quiet.

As for me... no, motorcycles don't scare me, but can be very annoying. The sound that I can't stand is gunshots at close range. Doesn't matter whether it's a 12-pounder cannon, flintlock musket, 9-mm pistol, submachine gun, or high-caliber rifle. They're all too loud for my taste.

Don't anticipate ICE vehicles vanishing entirely. As long as there's petrolheads there'll be petrol powered cars making their lovely internal-combustion noises. With any luck, once electrics take over the role powering of transportation appliances the state will see less need to harass the ICE hobby over noise levels and emissions.
