I don't necessarily have a problem with carbonated drinks, and I do enjoy them sometimes, but lately I've been finding that I like non-carbonated beverages somewhat more. It's hard to find ones that I actually like drinking though, most are fairly bland, but the ones that are good are better than carbonated stuff IMO.

:D When I was about five, I thought: "Milk is fantastic. Green soda is fantastic. Together they must be miraculous!"
It was the worst mix I ever tasted! (I mixed everything to find out how it tasted).

It caused hiccups and sometimes would come out my nose when I was a child. As an adult I drink it more slowly and tend to let it go flat or put allot of ice cubes in it to dilute it. Even thou it causes problems when I drink it, I still want it. Sprite is my favorite.

Really? I hurts my mouth quite a bit, but I don't mind too much... taste is well worth it.

Exactly, the pain is half the fun.

I never had much of a problem with them. I remember as a kid, my brother and I would sometimes try to see who could hold a carbonated drink under their tongue the longest (it burns, A LOT). I kind of like the burning actually. I also like extremely spicy food.

Firstly, you pour slower than normal.
When you start pouring, pour at the center of the glass, then slowly pour around the edges. That should help get rid of the bubbles.
Also, I tend to use a larger than normal mug that is narrower at the base than then the top which also seems to help.

It may take some practice. Or I could be entirely wrong and it's just a ritual I do.

Thanks! This seems to work. It's good to know I'm not the only one with this issue.

I'm fine with carbonated drinks but was just thinking of making an autistic character in my book dislike carbonation. Actually I rarely drink ginger ale because the combination or bubbles and ginger flavor is a bit over powering.

Are you kidding me? I drink carbonated stuff practically all the time unless it's diet which always tastes flat to me. I find it to be very calming almost like a de-stresser. But that's just soda. Monster on the other hand has me bouncing off the walls after 2 cans whenever I have a creative writing period. Helps keep my brain alert and come up with ideas for my stories.

That's kind of odd, because I remember when my family took a trip to Georgia several years back, I could have sworn the Coca Cola there tasted better than it did here. Atlanta is the city where it was invented, after all.

Of course, when we took our tour of the Coca Cola Museum, they mentioned at one point that they try to keep the flavor as consistant as possible worldwide. From my own experiences, I know this is not true. Then again, I'm one of the few people I know who can tell the difference between Coke and Pepsi.

I usually do in random occasions. I could even take a liter of (either pepsi or coca cola) alone. Sometimes more than a liter for an entire night/day of me sitting here by the computer. (Yes, that is unhealthy)

Unless it's cold, I can take it.

Mostly no.

I stay away from carbonated drinks aside from the occasional sparkling water.

Yes, but only a few selected brands: Pepsi, Coke (to an extent), 7-Up, Sprite. HATE Dr. Pepper taste, always have and never will have it again. Hate "orange" sodas like Fanta. #1 is Pepsi for me, I like the taste of it more than Coca-Cola as it's cold, but not completely sweet like Coca-Cola. I make sure to ONLY have 1 12-oz can of some soft drink a day. I don't drink down a 1-liter Pepsi in 1 day...I go 12-16 oz at a time.
Absolutely hate diet sodas as they are even worse than regular sodas.
Funny story - I used to have caffeine-free Pepsi (non-diet) for years, from elementary to probably 7th grade. If I had regular Pepsi I would get too hyperactive due to the caffeine. Caffeine-free tasted exactly the same as regular Pepsi, but I had no ADHD-like-symptoms to deal with. Jumping up and down everywhere, etc. After about 7th or 8th grade, normal Pepsi was just fine.
