We don't own the words we write on your site - if someone wrote an article, you could profit from it and there's nothing the individual could do about it. They also couldn't mention it on their own blog, should they have one.
Is WrongPlanet offering terms i.e. percentage of ad revenue in relation to site traffic for a specific period of time? That would be fair. Otherwise, people are working for you for free.
Welcome to the site...
That is standard boilerplate.
HOWEVER, the wording of the TOS on this site is such that you DO own your words. To get rid of that copyright requires very specific contracts which the TOS is not nearly comprehensive enough to qualify for. It lets them USE the words.

Yeah. I'm done. Don't bother messaging and expecting a response - i've left WP permanently.
I wouldn't mind writing some articles if I can think of suitable topics. How qualified do we need to be to submit an article? That is, something that we have experienced an can reflect on in a very self-aware way? Or something that we have studied and written a thesis on?
I like the idea of creating a clean set of reference material for the site. There is a lot of really good knowledge here but it often takes a lot of digging through old threads to find it.

You don't need to be an expert but we would love to get high quality articles that are well-written

If we choose your article, it will be featured on the homepage!
I'm sure you can think of something to write about that would be helpful to the community at large. Examples would be things like how to make friends, how to make sure to pay your taxes on time, how to remember to pay bills on time, organizing your life, scheduling appointments by using a calendar, how to ask someone out, how to come off great in a job interview, how to be successful in school/college, etc. Please note that articles should be as long as the articles already on the site an be of high quality.
Thoughts?
How much do you pay per article?
Women are very hard to understand, but I seem to be good at understanding them.
Firstly I will say a little about myself; I am not diagnosed aspie, but strongly suspect I am (171/200 Likely AS, 35/200 NT). When I was a child girls totally confused me, not helped by my going to an all all boys grammar school. But at 16 I went art college, and was very lucky to find a girl who made all the moves on me. Since then my confidence with the opposite sex has increased.
So, firstly, assuming you are like me, very odd to most people, arrogant (at least from an nt pov), geeky and awkward, therefore, you probably assume you are unattractive to the opposite sex. THIS IS NOT TRUE. In a world where everyone has a smart phone and is online, and superheroes are, quite literally everywhere, geeky is attractive (look up 'geek chic').
I have actually been told my arrogance is very sexy, so don't let yourself worry too much about that, curb it, don't hide it, it can actually come across as very Alpha male, which is obviously very attractive to women.
'Weird', 'Strange' & 'Excentric' describe so many Rock stars, who are definitely attractive to the opposite sex.
Ian Dury had polio, and Gene Vincent had a gammy leg that he dragged across the stage, yet they are emulated and copied by a whole host of musicans.
I know a lot of things, and seem to be of pretty high intelligence, this also is considered very attractive, the word hebephilia, and the slang term 'sapiosexual' both refer to this, and I am led to believe more and more people are, so make the most of all those facts you know, just try to be selective in choosing things 'she' has an interest in, and leaving long pauses to allow her to speak. Try very hard (oh my gosh, so hard I know ) not to argue if, or let's face it WHEN she disagrees.
I do not like going to restaurants at all, they make me feel horrible, so offering to buy take away, or better yet cooking her a meal can work wonders. The first few dates have to be in public places, which we do not want to be crowded, so a picnic in a park and/or a trip to a museum, is much better than a pub, restaurant or cinema.
Both a park setting and a museum should stimulate good conversation, and hopefully show off your intelligence.
If you are unsure of which women may be attracted to you, look at the women you know. Which of them have partners you can relate to? These are the type of women who are more likely to be attracted to you, but a few common interests is just as important.
If you got this far... thanks for reading
I will attempt to answer any questions if I can
and one last note, 'chick flicks' are a VERY good way to understand what women want, and I'm very sure the film 'what women want' is a good view of the female psyche.

As Alex stated in this thread, there is no money available to pay contributors.
Either way, Wrong Planet doesn't make much from advertising so it wouldn't really make you much money to do a revenue share.
I fully understand that position and the financial constraints around operating a community driven online service. Like Alex I have published in mainstream media channels, on topics related to my specific expertise, not receiving any compensation, and with copyright residing with the publisher.
At the same time I publish software under open source licenses and other high quality material under creative commons licenses. The majority of my work will always be published under open source and creative commons licenses, and other channels only play a secondary role.
It is perhaps worthwhile pointing out to the WP team that the terms of use that have been quoted in this thread are not conducive to soliciting high quality articles.
Any and all information posted on WrongPlanet.net may not be copied or used elsewhere, in any way, shape, or form, either on the Internet or in print without express written consent of an owner of WrongPlanet.net.
Brushing off related questions with an offhand "this is standard boilerplate" only raises further concerns amongst some of those who may otherwise be inclined to submit high quality articles.
To be clear, I don't think there is malicious intent. The current terms of use were probably put in place before WP became popular, without much thought to the longer-term implications.
I highly recommend to the WP team to change the standard terms of use by referring to an appropriate Creative Commons license that ensures attribution to the authors and enables authors to create derivatives on other sites and platforms.
