Do not have children for the same reason you would buy a pair of earrings, is the advice I'd give.

Patience is a must...Also, If they have non-autistic siblings, teach those siblings to understand ASD, and to love and cherish their siblings as individuals...(and to respect things like their sensory issues, stemming and special interests...)

I'd just like to add, never say to your child "I love you but..." It was often said to me and I think it is one of the most unkind things you can say to somebody. At the same time you're saying you love them you are telling them that they're not acceptable to you as they are. It instilled fear in me to be told all the time that I had to change behaviours that I didn't have control over i.e. become somebody I could never be in order to be acceptable.
