I was just about to ask about this!
My sense of direction is apparently noticeably bad - BUT, is other peoples sense of direction really as good as they claim? I just got told that it took a coworker two days to memorise an 11 hour inner city route with every one of the 25 plus stops. After only one day, people were looking at me weirdly and saying "what, you STILL don't know your way around?"
After one day? In an area I've never been in before? With hostile, busy city traffic and no turning signs and peak lanes that randomly disappear? I would have thought it would be surprising if I HAD known my way around, as if I just assimilated it idetically. Also this might be stress related for AS folk - you might be able to find your way if you were left to get there at your own speed completely uninterfered with by other people, but with someone watching you or people screaming at you from cars or whatever, I'd guess it gets worse.

Something I do is visualize where me and wherever I am at is on a map so usually I know where things and directions are relative to where I think they are on a map, I am pretty good about remembering where I have been after I have been there before. I also try to keep track of where I am relative to whatever landmark like a lake, mountain, ocean. Despite this I am pretty awful at giving directions, I always panic and mix up my rights and lefts as it seems like a lot of you do. I've come to discover people really do not like it when they are lost and you go "okay take righ-I mean left-no right".

Pretty good.

I have a hard time with directions too & get easily confused due to dyslexia & problems paying attention due to ADHD. I also have a rare low vision disorder & problems with my brain processing things I do see visually sometimes.

I am usually the designated navigator; I would find it hard to be lost, especially with a map.

I have a reliable but odd sense of direction. It's unconscious. I just keep walking and know that I'll get there. And on time, too. But I don't know ahead of time if I'm going to turn the next corner or not. This is for walking; I never learned to drive.
