Yes I definitely do! I am also a mumbler and people often ask me to repeat what I said. I lose my train of thought easily if interrupted. Often I say a word and it gets misinterpreted as a different word because of the way I talk. Talking for long periods can be physically exhausting to me. I feel like most people are able to get to know me more through text because I don't talk much. I also have social anxiety and self conscious about my body language. Because of odd favia expressions or tone of voice people often misinterpret what I meant. Unless it's someone I know very well and feel comfortable having a long face to face conversations with I prefer to just be left alone with my thoughts.

I share your experience.

I usually need quite a long time to figure out what I want to say, and how I want to say it. I usually edit my posts and messages several times, but I cannot do that in real-life speech. Many times, I change my mind after I've said, or missed saying something, because I keep thinking about it. And many times, I offend people unintentionally because I say whatever comes to my mind just in order to keep the conversation going. And sometimes, I change my mind in the middle of a sentence which makes even me confused about what I want to say. This usually results in my speech being incomprehensible.

I also prefer being left alone with my thoughts, not having to control myself in order to conform to a social situation.

I think I can express myself a little better through typing, but it's because I feel like I can type what I'm afraid or ashamed to say out loud. I can explain myself pretty well via speech, but that I doesn't mean I don't ever stumble over my words or sound awkward.

I also have this problem where I accidentally get my pronouns mixed up when I say things. Is that an autism thing?

I used to speak very eloquently as a child, and as I grew up I realized people thought it was pretentious as hell and I started speaking casually, but also it got harder for me to speak correctly. In my spoken sentences sometimes I say a word before I am supposed to. Like ''I'm going to close the door right now.'' ---> ''I'm going to close the right...'' and so on. When typing I can correct my mistakes and also I like the sound of writing with pencil or pen and typing on the keyboard.

I definitely type better than I speak. Handwriting - not so much. As mentioned, it gives me more time to analyse what I'm saying, edit, re-check, etc. When speaking, I'm too distracted by the person/people I'm talking to, freaking out about how I appear/sound to them, self conscious of my gestures, facial expression, tone/inflection, trying not to appear autistic - all these things distract me too much from actually making sense with any sort of eloquence or coherence. I can talk yes, but I tend to babble and mangle words, especially when stressed.
I also find that it's something that has to be maintained - if I haven't spoken for long enough (with me, it doesn't take very long) I tend to forget how and its harder. If I've been speaking a lot, its easier.

Yes, typing is definitely easier than speaking, for pretty much the same reasons C2V mentioned.

I'm dyslexic & have a tremor disorder & bad fine motor skills so my speaking is a lot better than my typing.

Sometimes I feel as if I can definitely type better than I can speak. When one types one can edit words and is becomes harder for him or her to stumble.

Same for me, unfortunately it persists in typing too-- I can't help but be thorough. When I was a teenager I used to speak casual, but it took me forever to "translate" and it didn't help my ability to communicate much so I went back to speaking how I think. I also figure I learned all the complex words, syntax, and grammatical functions for a reason so I might as well use them, if other people have a problem, well it's their problem.

I think I type better than I speak and sound a lot more intelligent than I do IRL. I make a lot of pauses and I usually don't say much either IRL

I type better than I speak even though I'm not the worst orator, certainly not the best though. It's somewhat amusing since I have a speech disability yet I'm able to pronounce some words better than people without my hindrance.

If I had to pick between which was easier however it's typing hands down: more time to think, able to backtrack easier, less stressful, etc. Probably part of why I enjoy writing so much and wrote a novel in a month. Well that and an excess of free time :)

I don't love typing or speaking.
Both are not particularly eggspressive for me.
If I continued non-verbal from childhood, I don't see myself typing much better than speaking, because if I could use language to type, then I would just speak them out loud, since my motor speaking works.
I don't like to talk about my interests much or to share information through writing emails or speaking.
Sometimes, I have to share some information with others, but I have told people to google some keywords and read themselves instead of me eggsplaining something verbally, that is hard and tiring for me.

I'm better at typing than speaking because when I type I have a filter and when speaking I just go on a really fast paced rant and it can be socially inappropriate.
