I used to love chess, when I was younger (i.e. in elementary school). I learned how to play when I was ~ 5, while watching my Dad play with my older brother. I then used to play my older brother, until I beat him. And, then he was no longer interested in playing.

I entered a chess tournament at my school in 4th grade and did well. Only to lose out to another player who cheated (by moving pieces around when he thought I wasn't looking). After that incident, I lost interest in playing.

I'm really interested in reading about chess and its rules and tactics. But I don't like actually playing the game, and I'm not very good at it. I don't have the visual skills to see several moves ahead.

If you're really into reading about chess should look into some of the text about advanced chess if you haven't already. I got interested in th subject when I got an app for my tablet where the computer suggest some strange moves which, without advanced chess knowledge, seem strange granted some of the simpler moved most would be tempted to make.

I can't set my computer chess program at a low enough level so that I can actually beat it. I never get past playing defense. If I try to be aggressive and play offensively, it eats me alive before I get anywhere. I think it's an Executive Function problem. No matter how long I study the board and calculate possible moves, before I do anything, I always miss several vulnerable spots. Its an interesting game, but nothing is fun when you always lose. :(

Should try to analysis not only the moves you could make, but the moves the computer makes that humbug you. If you recorded the moves of an entire game you could have it play out like a move and sight all the major flaws, good things, and things that could have been seized. Could also ask someone you know who is rather qualified for advice or help to better your game. If all else fails I'd be willing to help you if you're interested. I'm certainly not the world's greatest player by any means, but it wouldn't take too much to humbug the computer on the lower levels of difficulty. Dont let the game get you down :)

I love chess but don't play very well. It occurred to me that it might be because I am lousy at shapes. The game is really about shapes, isn't it? So maybe it's the shapes thing, rather than the NT thing. I'm only guessing.

I'm not even good at checkers. I find such games to be very boring. My parents would have a family game night when I was a kid but they were lucky if I didn't start crying from boredom halfway through the games. :)

The only interactive game I liked was Battleship.

One of my favorite things about this game, all of the different themed boards.

Got this beauty for my birthday one year. Never move it much though since it's a very heavy board and might break the pieces if I left them on there while moving. Been awhile since I've played and even longer since I had a good game :(
