Dogs, cats and furry things scare me but not cows or horses or elepahnts or other kinds of things.
And the cool thing is a bird will not say "I love you" without meaning it!

But I thought birds just mimic! Although I did see a very interesting bird on tv that could pick out colors and objects and stuff on command.

Wait, you probably didn't mean that literally...

Birds do mimic, but they also use words and phrases appropriately. And yes they DO mean it when they say I love you. One birds says "oooh honey our man is home". when my husband drives in the driveway... and then yells "Hey sweety!" as he opens the door. Another one will get in my face and say "preety pretty bird" and make kissing noises and preen my hair and another says "see the birdies" when she wants to look outside at other birds and if she see a cat or dog says "sssssss get outta here"! 2 of my Amazons are well one their way to learning to sing "Shambala" which is mimicing, but awful funny and they love to sing!

That one you saw on TV was Alex who has been learning for at least 12 years and is also capanle of understanding the 0 concept.

I was attacked by a St Bernard when I was 3. ripped open my skull. Then a few years later was attacked by a cat and got cat scratch fever. so domestic animals and me dont get along to this day. But Ive spent a good portion of my life in wilderness or near it, and I get along famously with wildcats, bears, raccoons etc. When I run into them we look at each other, smile, then go about our day. If another person is with me, the wildbeasts bolt and run. Thank god Im usually alone.

Meerkat is spelled with a "K" not a "C" by the way. Even so called "animal" people are freaked out by me because I am so much better with animals that I am with humans. The sad thing is I do not want to get better with humans. I never showed any natural fear of snakes or lions but would scream if a person said "Hi" to me. I was kinda messed up as a kid. I showed no remorse or empathy for people and wanted them all to stay away from me but I did not feel that way around animals. I actualy had so called "unapprochable" animals come up to me and want me to pet them. We once had this dog that some guy abused and it was really nervous and stuff and it would run away or try to hide if someone approached it but it would not do that with me. These goats at a petting zoo even lost intrest in being fed just to come to me.

Uh.. how can you communicate with animals? They don't talk back, unless you know cat/dog/fish/turtle/bird...

I think you read their body language. Or speak "teplaticaly" to them which is a joke.

I always thought of myself as a "cat person" but have recently been working with dogs.I am very "tactile" and we groom each other.I am constantly amazed how these "total strangers" seem to love me.They all want to be my best friend and are so excited when I pay attention to them.....the exact opposite of humans.I have also been suprised to find that although I have a huge problem recoginizing and remembering the names of humans,I can keep track of a room full of animals and know their names within minutes.I leave my job in the morning feeling like the most popular girl in the class.Imagine that.(AND,I get paid for this!! !!)
