If you're feeling like you're getting shamed for not having been drunk before I would say you're hanging with the wrong group of people. Even in my age group, 15(turning 16 very soon), I have a few friends who have been drunk and many who still drink as a recreational activity and they all know my opinion of alcoholic beverages and that I have yet to have a drop of alcohol, they never ostracize me or make me feel unwanted.

for some folk, alky is their best friend, for other folks their worst enemy, and quite often it is with the same people.

Ive dranken alcohol but ive never been drunk. I usually eat lots while drinking so it doesnt effect me. Casual drinking where the point is getting drunk really rubs me the wrong way. it feels morally wrong to use a substance to make yourself feel better.

welcome to WP :) do you feel pain killers are morally wrong, like if you busted a leg or tore a hole in your body somewhere, would you not want pain relief?

Never got drunk. Never got tipsy. Hell, I never drank anything alcoholic for more than less than a teaspoon full of alcohol. If anything, no beverage has addled my state of mind... Yet.

A single drop tastes like it's going to burn me and that's just less than 5% alcohol content. Let alone a sip or more. Up to the point that my MOM is encouraging me to drink with her just for the heck of it.

Or maybe my sense of taste is still too strong to tolerate it? I don't know my own alcohol tolerance yet...

mebbe if you tried some keystone light you might find it pleasantly mild. it has the reputation of being the brew for people who otherwise find alky too strong, in general.

I've never been drunk, and have no desire to be.

I don't drink alcohol, period. I used to be able to tolerate small amounts, but after moving to a higher elevation, that's over - last time I tried was years ago, when a small glass of wine after dinner made me feel really ill. I haven't touched it since.

No one needs alcohol (or other mind-altering substances, IMO) to have a "good time." I cannot, for the life of me, understand why anyone would want to get into that kind of a state where you are slurring your words, making no sense, falling over and/or throwing up (I get vertigo and/or nausea all on my own at random times, thank you very much, and I do NOT enjoy any of it).

The only time I ever came close to being drunk was the time I used a bottle of beer, instead water and vinegar, and Old Bay seasoning to steam shrimp. Even thought I poured the liquid down the drain after the shrimp were steamed, the shrimp absorbed some of the beer, and I was feeling quite lightheaded after consuming said shrimp. I had one hell of a headache when I got up the next morning.

Other than that one time, I don't touch alcoholi beverages, even for communion.

Really. I thought alcohol is pretty much cooked out in a dish and just the flavoring left. Anyone know?

I've never even touched alcohol. For one it is against my religious beliefs, and two, effecting my mind with a drug or alcohol seems like a dumb idea.

That's kinda like that falling tree in the empty forest thingy. If you get wasted on a bottle of man water in front of your computer, are you really wasted if no one sees you?

i've been drunk a couple of times when i first started drinking. i just consider it part of having learned to drink responsibly. these days, i have one drink a couple of times per month if that often. for celebrations i like reisling, rum and diet coke, margaritas, really rare pina coladas (lots of calories), mojitos, and bud light.
