Mine is taken from "Glitterdammerung". This is the final chapter of Grant Morrison's "The Invisibles".

It's just such a cool quote - sort of post-neo-alternative-anti-conformity, for want of a better term.

And it's also a neat play on words (revolution, re*cog*nize, wheel ;) ).

Glitterdammerung is one of the best pieces of literature I've ever come across. It speaks to me in a way nothing else has ever done. It basically explains to me my self.

Mine is part of a poem I wrote. The whole poem is in the Arts forum somewhere in one of the threads.

Every so often people mention that they don't seem to have much in common with others on this board, and then someone else will mention that not everyone on the board has AS. My signature is an attempt to clear some of this confusion :)

I couldn't fit my whole signature. The rest is in the extra information part of my profile. For reference, I put it below.
My signature is the result of being diagnosed as neurodiverse, combined with a lifelong fascination with the dark side of superman, that is, the reality of being someone who in spite of being a human being can't escape from being treated as the sum of what people expect of him.
This is relevant to my being a psychologist, a person of color and transgender. It is as if I can't take off the uniform. People do not look for me, they look for my "powers."
It is very lonely, but people don't want to hear that.
After all, Superman is a hero. Why would he be lonely? Everybody loves him.

I thought Jon Ondrasik (five for fighting) expressed it beautifully: "I can't stand to fly, I'm not that naive, men weren't meant to fly with clouds between their knees..."

On the other hand, there are wonderful things like running so fast it feels like flying and flying in airplanes and on the Superman Ride of Steel roller coaster (last year I did it about six or seven times in a row in one evening). Fast is good.

Look! On the internet! It's a geek! It's a nerd! It's Neuroman! Yes, it's Neuroman, strange visitor from WrongPlanet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of neurotypical men....Neuroman, who can change the course of diagnoses, bend minds with his bare words, and who, disguised as Mad Jack, mild-mannered pirate psychologist and parts collector, fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the Logical Way!

My sig is self-explanatory, but I though I'd post my old one:

I may be a complete idiot but I think you're great!

It's much easier to flirt with people you aren't attracted to.
Isn't it, you sexy beast?

A sense of humor is a secondary sexual characteristic.
I'm serious! I'm not joking!
Wait, yes I am.

And the one I had last Christmas was, I think, especially good (though I did not make it up):

Formula for loss of holiday shopping enthusiasm: E(t) = A (1-keat) where E is enthusiasm, t is the time left in days, a is the rate enthusiasm is lost, A is a factor to express enthusiasm at 100% and k is a factor to express enthusiasm at 0%. –Tony Mann

REALLY long hair is SO old fashioned. It annoys me as much as people that pull their pants upto their armpits.

Awesome idea for a thread. I'll post each time I change it. (and quote my old ones so people know what i'm talking about).

On men or women? On women it's actually quite trendy.

Oh I get it, but it bugs me. You need eight digits to have an intelligible binary code, from ym understanding.

That's been happening to me of late becaus I'm too small for my pants now. It's not intentional though. They fit right originally.

Actually it was verbatim from what I mentioned (yes, twas me) but I did not have all caps. :)

This refers to a fan fiction I wrote about Legolas coming out into America and meeting up with a rather clueless girl. This is precisely what happens when I have too much time on my hands during an English/history class.

This should be self-explanatory. It seems that many people with AS are plenty competent (able to perform) when left to their own means, but still incoherent to the neuro-typical world. Or that is how I see it.

The website (my personal one) that I am currently working on is called "Scribes of Imladris". Imladris is the home of Elrond and his folk from Tolkien's Middle-earth and is commonly known as Rivendell. I started writing a brief snippet of commentary each day, mostly about Middle-earth or Narnia and how they relate to life in general, which I refer to as "Reflections Though the Wardrobe". Again, another example of me having too much time on my hands during English class...

Lastly is my nickname in full. "Namiko" is Japanese for "little wave", and Iolana is Hawaiian for "to soar like an eagle", taken from Isaiah 40:31. But that's about it. ;)

Explanation much appreciated!

It's been recently brought to my attention that I might have SAD. Somehow that led to me me making up this signature. I really don't know where/how I got the idea for it, it just came out while typing.

No, there was a little something before it. But the "wired to be weird" was exactly the same. But it wasn't the whole phrase you used.

But in the end, nice phrase and thanks!
:D

Serissa, you brought up the thread :D I was just looking for that, lol.

Original phrase: "I'm wired to be weird- what's your excuse?"

Haha, yeah. I was surfing through the threads to find something for class and that sucker popped up. ((I actually did have something relevant to reply to, mind you.))

No problem. More than one person has asked me about it or commented on it, so I thought it deserved an explanation. :) The old signature of mine "God is not hurried along in the time-stream of this universe any more than an author is hurried in the imaginary time of his own novel" was a quote by none other that C.S. Lewis. :D

Heh, I remember when it was the full version of Leeloo's name from "The Fifth Element".
I found this fascinating.

Mine's a quote from a book called Foxmask by Juliet Marillier. I guess I'll change it eventually when I start browsing through my book of quotes and find a more fitting one.

Mine is a line from an Emily Dickinson poem that's always stuck with me, because this line expresses so well to me what it's like being AS in an NT world.

The complete poem:

"MUCH madness is divinest sense
To a discerning eye;
Much sense the starkest madness.
’T is the majority
In this, as all, prevails. 5
Assent, and you are sane;
Demur,—you ’re straightway dangerous,
And handled with a chain."
