Anyway how are you technicaly Jewish Chatholic and Protestant?

Well, my dad's Catholic (from Ireland), and I was christened a Catholic (though not baptised). My mum's Protestant (Western Isles of Scotland), and I was raised mostly just by her (parent's divorced when I was 9, dad was an alcoholic, prescription junkie etc who never paid me any attention) and my Mother's Mother's Mother was Jewish (insofar as we can determine based on the records), which talmudic law (I think it's talmudic, rather than something in the Torah - I'm no rabbi) states as making me 100% Jewish (in the strictest, most technical sense), regardless of other factors, surgical or otherwise, as Jewish inheritance is traced through the maternal line.

Also, the protestant thing doens't have the same technicality about it as the Catholicism or Judaism, since there wasn't any ritual or law involved with it.

Personally, I'm an atheist though.

Note to self - if only there was a language that used a proper nested structure - I could stop putting all these parentheses in my paragraphs.

I’m not sure about Jesus being AS, The signs point to Schizophrenia.

1) beiliveng that he is the son of god – surly this would be a delusion of grandure.
2) Feeling that you are being controlled by some one else
3) Hearing voices – a classic symptom

Please don’t take this too seriously it is meant to be a joke and not start the whole god debate in this forum

I used to think Jesus had AS, but then I think he could fit a number of dxes...schizotypal maybe?

The wonderful thing about Jesus is everyone's always trying to claim his as one of their own kind. The gays think he was gay, the married/childed people think he married Mary Magdalene and had kids.

Oh well. It is because they are all trying to gain salvation for nothing. Meanwhile.... how the hell do you get those white bars?

Nice to see that everyone save Fionoban is getting the point of this thread.

I find it very amusing to observe how somebody whose memory has inspired the largest and longest-lived fan club; over a billion strong and almost 2000 years old, had many traits that are often found in us.
I think Arafart said it best: "The most significant difference between any two religions is who has the best-looking imaginary friend."

But the reference to schizophrenia ( delusions of grandeur ) cracks me up!! !! Excellent.

Perhaps the truth is that Jesus, simply as a historic figure, is one with whom many, many people can identify and perhaps that explains a lot of his staying power.

I guess if he was alive today, he could always cater weddings!

Actually, given the psychosis, mood swings, and religious preoccupation, I would guess maybe more Bipolar. ;)

Interesting theory, but I believe he probably did not have a neurobiological disorder.

Well, we really don't know if JC was real either. None of the gospels were written by people who actually knew him or were even alive when he supposedly did his great stuff.

I think the Harry Potter thing was a joke. By the way, I am a huge fan of Harry Potter, and when I read the books I feel a personal connection to him. So does that make me a fan or a friend?

TheWhale, very interesting topic.

I agree :)

Jesus' speech may sound pedantic at times because no one arund Him had anything intelligent to say in return, and unlike someone with AS, his speaches could hold an extremely large audience, in excess of 5,000 people without any sound amplification. Also, He spoke in parables because at the time, the Jews were mostly a bunch of uneducated gomers that couldn't understand anything else and the parables also translate well into other languages. The least AS characteristic I can think of off the top of my head is His ability to see through people's intentions. He knew exactly what they were doing and could and could confound their efforts at will.
