My hairdresser is such a bubblehead. She is so stupid because I tell her no compliments on my hair and she's like "Kristine, you have nice thick hair and crap." If I wasn't so polite, I would tell her to go back to Japan!

and she may tell you not to be racist!

You poor put upon thing! Getting compliments is such a burden. You poor prissy thing!

I wished I got one compliment a year, let alone NEVER!

Mind you! Compliments from your hairdresser doesn't count. She's only trying to butter you up so you'll keep coming back and she'll keep making money out of you.

That's absolutely true and it is one of the 'white lies' I truly understand. Kinda goes back to that southern upbringing.......And, quite frankly, if anyone is expecting tips out of me these days, it better be sweetness and unicorns. Sorry, but too many people want my business for me to settle with 'surly' when being serviced.

Yes. I know full well that emotions exist, and that I have them, but there are still times when my brain still insists there's no such thing.

Genuine, honest, deserved compliments are fine. Sometimes I do get embarrassed because I feel put on the spot and don't know how to react. I can get really embarrassed if I'm complimented in front of others.

But I really dislike fake compliments. Or ones that are really undeserved. It means nothing to be complimented on something that one is doing average at best, unless it is something one is struggling to improve upon and is succeeding in those efforts.

I hate when parents compliment their children on everything they do and treat every little action as some great accomplishment. Either the child will develop a superiority complex, or will never know when to trust that a compliment is deserved.

I never give out fake compliments. Even when I'm expected to.

I am very distraught when i receive a compliment. I just try to say "thank you" + smile but i don’t give a damn about the compliment.

The only comments i appreciate is the negative or objective balanced ones because it is an opportunity to improve. This is not the case of a compliment which doesn’t do anything from my point of view.

I tell sincere compliments to others, as they seem to like it :)
