I have bad hayfever every summer time - I've just started my medication for that again, so hopefully I shan't be snuffly and watery-eyed for the next three months. I'm more allergic to grass pollen than to flower pollen, though, which is why I get sneezy, itchy-eyed and wheezy whenever somebody's cutting grass around me.

I also cannot really tolerate cigarette smoke and long-haired cats' fur (again, my lungs tend to seize up when I'm around those things). I used to be allergic to egg, too, but that cleared up when I was about seven.

ASPARTAME

frescro, I'm curious, how exactly are you allergic to aspartame (i.e., the symptoms you get)? I also seem to have a reaction to aspartame, although I've been told most likely I get aspartame hangovers-- though why no one else seems to get them is beyond me.

I get bad headaches and joint aches in my upper body (not sure why it doesn't affect my lower body). The headaches aren't so weird, but the body aches are an unsual sensation. I don't think I process aspartame very well maybe. I don't know, maybe I have some slight issues with phenylalanine...

Sophist, have you heard of eosinophilia? My son was allergic to the proteins in my breastmilk. PM me, please.

No, I've never heard of it. Yeah, I'll PM you.

Yes, I too have an allergy to... ahem... the produce of tree sex! I am also intolerant to milk, which makes my tum hurt, I cannot eat eggs because I get stabbing pain in my sinuses and I am allergic to caffiene and therefore chocolate! I don't mind much because chocolate looks like rabbit poop and tastes bad. It is either chocolate or shocking seizures!

Just in case you still might have some slight allergic reaction to eggs, make sure to beware of the flu shot because the virus is grown from chicken eggs and people who are egg-allergic are often known to have allergic reactions to the flu shots as well.

I guess I'm something of an "immunomess" too. I have severe asthmatic reactions to just about any artificial chemicals: cleaners, perfumes, paints, some food additives, textile dyes, most hand/bar soaps, gasoline/engine oil, and aerosol used in spray cans and even asthma inhalers (how's that for irony?). In addition to that, I have serious skin allergies to grass, some wood types, and most pollen, but strangely an immunity to poison ivy/oak/sumac. I'm also allergic to whole milk, and have bad reactions to eating green vegetables and some red meat.

I used to not have reactions to poison ivy when I was younger (I could roll around in it if I wanted and not get a thing). But I spent so much time in the woods when I was younger but then stopped (we moved) and by teenagerhood, I was allergic. I've only had it once, but I got it pretty bad. It was gross.

I'm allergic to smells... it mostly causes me to cough, but sometimes it triggers asthma attacks as well. As far as I know, I'm allergic to the following:

Cigarettes, most perfumes, body/mouth/hair odour, things that smell a lot or too bad, flower stuff (pollen I think), some ping-pong racquets and dust as far as I know.

I don't know if this counts as allergy or not, but I couldn't EVER eat meat without compressed fat (when it's not turned into sausages and salami, etc) because the taste of fat makes me nauseous for at least an hour...

I have a bunch of allergies. Milk, eggs, dust, cats, pollens. I also have sensitive skin and get rashes from things, like scented laundry detergent, very easily. I've also noticed I feel much better when I don't have gluten in my diet, so I'm cutting that out completely as well, started this week. I've been gluten free off and on for the last year and a half (nursing baby, thought he was only allergic to wheat, but apparently it's all gluten.) It's hard when you can't have eggs.

Okay, well I have hypothyrodisim, which is an auto-immune disease, which probably means I’m allergic to myself :D

I’m BADLY allergic to penicillin, amoxicillin, celor (misspelled probably) or anything else remotely related to penicillin.

Allergic to cats, dogs (except poodles, thank goodness :) ), most foods according to an allergist (but only shellfish have an obvious reaction-otherwise I just eat anything, because otherwise I’d be avoiding basically everything-and I like food!), apparently eggs (just discovered that gives me digest problems, though I can eat eggs used as an ingredient in a cake, for example).

I have noticed for years that often after I eat my throat gets clogged up, and I’ll be coughing for a while. I don’t know why, or if it matters, but I’ve wondered if it’s some sort of mild allergic reaction.

I don’t do well with chemicals. Hate their smell (things like perfume, etc.), and I eventually start breaking out if I use a normal deodorant. I discovered Tom’s of Maine’s natural unscented deodorant. I can use it just fine. Also have mild allergies to pollen and that sort of thing, but nothing bad.

So basically I have a TON of allergies, but most of them don’t really affect me (as far as I know) on a day to day basis. Basically I just have to remind doctors I’m allergic to penicillin and it’s relatives if they’re prescribing an antibiotic, and lately I’ve started avoiding eggs-which I don’t like anyway, so no loss there.

Oh, and obviously I *HATE* cigarette smoke (or fumes from a car) or anything like that.

alot of women seem to develop allergies after having children (myself included)

I have the exact same issues minus the red meat, veggies and milk.
