So do I, what the hell does this have to do with anything?

Well, thinking practically, using the jackhammer to paint would make you a fortune selling contemporary "art."

How about you try describing this "system" without the metaphor? An actual description of what you're doing might be more illuminating.

How do YOU know the jackhammer can't make a good painting? Have YOU used a jackhammer when painting? If everyone did what things were SUPPOSE to be for we wouldn't have penicillin, we wouldn't have brilliant scientists, we'd be dead.

END DISCUSSION.

Besides, I think a jackhammer would make a lovely painting expressing my opinions on your statements here in this forum. Art is about expression right? So if an artist is REALLY PI**ED OFF, I imagine a Jackhammer would get that across mighty swell don't you think?

So, it's a metaphor-off you want, eh? Ok, I'll bite.

The paintbrush, though elegant and delicate, holds little use in modern times. The jackhammer, though powerful and loud, is equally out of date. The answer is a knife; cold and dangerous, yet when skillfully wielded, can be soft and delicate.

Well said, I like this.
Let's all become knives.

Using the jackhammer (AS functioning - trying to do it all by logic) makes us pretty crap at socialising; we say the wrong things, don't fit in.
Using the paintbrush (NT functioning) is simply using the right tool for the job.

Thanks for the site feedback. Out of interest, do you guys start from the same place; that Baron-Cohen's theory of hyper-systemising is basically true?

Once again you're leaving out the fact that not all NT's 'simply use the right tools'
Maybe the crowd you hang out with does, sorry to break it to you but not everyone thinks like you AS OR NOT.

I suppose every damn inventor, scientist, artist, psychologist, whoever else ALSO thinks beyond what law and text tell them to must have AS. Well damn, if thats the case I think its YOU who are alone, not us.

the knife idea is interesting

perhaps that's actually what most NT's do; not only empathising; most conversations include some systemising, logic, objective also

but it may be a person employing NT and AS skills could be more effective etc than either an NT or an AS

I do it everyday, but that's because I spent the past four years learning how. It's not that easy for everyone though.

How about you get it through your head that not all NT think like you do.

I remember that book. It has been out for years. If I recall correctly, she used intense ABA therpay in order to get her son to "act normal." Many of us "act normal" when necessary.

Why do you feel like you are an embarrassment? Why are you responsible for your family's feeings?

I will tell you that I've seen numerous "failures" using the Maurice's methods.

Gah- ABA! Okay, now let's work twenty times on responding to your name.

I personally believe there are better ways to get kids communicating.

What is so good about modern "socializing"? It is a monumental waste of time. I like doing purposeful things instead of idle chit-chat.
