Right now I'm using it to get my husband to consider learning a different way of managing our family. The house is completely dysfunctional, and there are so many things that I have trouble.coping with that he/they ignore because they thought I was just being ridiculous. This proves I'm not.
I have to go get the full report tonight, so we will see what is recommended.

Just be warned that it may not change their opinion quickly. They thought nothing was wrong all this time. It will be hard to get past this preconception.

We believe you though.

Congrats, I hope it brings some closure for you.

I was lucky that it got caught in my teens (well formally, caught well before then but paperwork was slow to catchup). I know how it feels to find a reason.

You mentioned how it feels to be formally "special" and to understand that you can have a different rule book. I know that feeling well. It's a very liberating feeling to feel free to be yourself.

For me it's Been over 10 years and I think it's only now just starting to sink in. To be happy I must be autistically happy.

Self acceptance is the start and you seem to be doing great, best of luck in the future,

All part of the learning experience ?

For ADHD, I do take medication.

Definitely. Forgot to add last time, my kids are... unique as well. Neither were criers, but both were needy. I used baby carriers to.meet their needs without burning out.

SoacedOut: thank you! Mine is less 'special' and more I understand that there is a real.reason I have always felt like a freak.

The rule book ? That's exactly how I've been feeling.

For me, being on the autism spectrum is like having my own rule book.

I guess having ADHD and ASD does make me "special". But I'm really pleased how I've managed to cope with a diagnosis for so long.

The last year or so has been interesting voyage of discovery.

I like the rule book analogy. It's sahken me to the core and I did not realize this until I read it in this thread.

I think it is very real, and I hope you get to write your own rule book now with proper guidance.

Got my eval, and (since I went through the NJ employment agency), work/training recommendations.

Eval was interesting. He says the ADHD was clear, as were the some symptoms that validate the Asperger's/Autism suspicion.

More later. I'm transcribing the paper copy of my eval so that I don't lose it. (For that matter, WHY are they not capable of using technology in a more efficient manner? I mean, they had to type it originally anyway. Why not just have a paperless copy?)

You need both. I got an electronic copy only. My printer won't let me print because my yellow is low. It's a freaking B/W doc...

Anyway, I cannot go print this at Staples. I cannot print it at work. I cannot email it to the Therapist. So, it would be nice to have paper and electronic.

I think you and I need to run at each other, as fast as we can. In circles...fast as we can, holding out your paper copy and my USB with the electronic copy, crashing together so they can see which Aspie particles float about before self destructing.

That got an actual laugh!! !

I'm enjoying the typing of this. Inserting tables, formatting. It's fun!

What kind of job does this?

There ya go...the 'Aspietron'. I'm glad you got that :)

Well, the good people in Spurn, at Believa-U-Mi institute are working to develop this. I can forward the link for application.

It's www.Aspietronics.nod

I only skimmed all the responses on this thread just for lack of time but OP, congratulations on your diagnosis. That is super good news. I felt very liberated when I finally got mine. I saw that you mentioned not fitting in anywhere. Well you now fit in with us! Having a diagnosis did not make my struggles any easier but it made my life easier in the sense that I now know the reason I struggle and I can talk about it and explain it to other people. That really helped me tremendously. I wish you the best now that you know. Once you have an explanation you no longer feel like a freak and things start to make a whole lot of sense. And that is worth so much.

It's not a real link. I am sorry...I thought it was just a play on the silliness of an Aspietron.

Spurn instead of Cern.

The Believa-U-Mi was a Marx Brothers/Three Stooges type of thing like getting degree from Whatsamatta U.

The addy ended with .nod as in, time to go to sleep....

I think I went a bit tangential. It makes sense in my head. But, it's got a split level and I occupy the basement only.

So well put. :) You are on your way to a better life. Not easier. I have seen your posts. I think you will do much better now.

Reader may be literal.
