The OCDer is worried about the possibility that he is a psychopath so he keeps on researching it for hours and hours reading about it to keep on reassuring himself he isn't.

The ASD person is fascinated on the topic about psychopaths because he is curious about them the way their mind work and the way they think so he spends hours and hours reading about it and he finds the whole thing interesting so he keeps reading about them and finding personal blogs about it and forums and reading posts by these people who actually are a psychopath than an NT who isn't one that writes about it.

While these two people are doing the exactly same thing with their obsession, their intentions behind it are different.

Good lord! Hit the nail right on the head here! Was single for 10 years then decided to give it a go again, but got used pretty badly, mentioned to councilor and she mentioned it had all the hallmarks of ASPD. So read a little to start with, then got into another short term relationship, similar happened again, then a third time and all very similar... So studied the Hell out of it! lol in hopes i see the signs before hand and not let my wants of emotional connection get in the way of my gut instinct.. Its actually a very fascinating read, also there is a chap on youtube that created a blog when the internet was at its infancy, first blog of its kind at the time. Can post the link if you like? Definitely individuals you NEED to run away from, but at the same time i do pity them, as they do feel depression/anxiety etc, but everything they do is a game for self empowerment and they only self pity... Very interesting spectrum, but often mighty destructive unfortunately!

I'd love to see that link you referred to!! ! :D

I've encountered ppl with the EXACT same problem you describe.
They are all dx with OCD and are in tx for it.
It is NOT an issue of sin, morality etc...., it is a brain with OCD.
It is not YOU per se, it is your brain generating these thoughts on its own.

sad but true :(

This is the chap that apparently created the first ever web blog on the spectrum and also on the spectrum himself... there are many videos of the spectrum out there but he gives it from the viewpoint of someone that is on the spectrum... Many videos and has actually helped me recently to spot certain individuals that showed the many characteristics and therefore avoided possible pain and gaslighting of which i have been a target of most of my life...

It's gotten better but I used to believe if I said something in my head it might come true or someone might hear it. I tried to never talk about our home being unlocked. Also I feel if I do something to change something it might affect something else negatively. I used to have to do things in evens and not odds unless it was a 5. When I was young I used to need to touch everything in my room an equal amount of times. I cried myself to sleep after doing this. It only stopped after I imagined the floor was lava. All of these have either lessened or gone away totally.
