Does "lot of people have autistic traits" starting to bother

I suppose a good reply would be "I can see why you might think that, as you've obviously got the social ineptitude trait in spades."


The irony thing about saying many people have autistic traits have been said by people on the autistic spectrum.

Okay I have a theory now why people say lot of people have autistic traits. They probably mean that people have qualities that are more common in autism such as for example, there are NTs out there who are analytical and good with seeing patterns and they are also logical but they are not autistic. This has been made a "trait" because it's more common in people with autism than it is in people without so maybe this is what they mean by lot of people have autistic traits?

I think that would account for some of the instances of people saying it, and I'd agree that they're very likely correct. If they just said that out of the blue, or as part of an innocent discussion about autism, that's probably how they mean it, and I think it's correct.
