Lazy v/s self care... where to draw the line...

Glad it all turned out alright for you. It's nice when things can get done effectively and it all ends with a good nights sleep. It is weird though... how sometimes a thing goes one way then not so much other times. Have you figured out any patterns to why it works better or not? I'd be poking that with a stick and writing down what was going on not only that day but a day or two before as well to keep for future reference when a similar result occurred again to compare. And then hope I did not lose the paper and/or forget about it next go round.
what i have noticed is that there were several times when i was under very controlled circumstances (not many objective factors that could be considered) and there were different effects between different instances, but no different factors that i could tell. i think i'd probably go crazy trying to figure it out (and ironically i have the impression that that's an important factor: not being worried to begin with, because of stress hormones and such)
the catch this time came later yesterday, and i did have bad insomnia (it's 8pm and i just woke up). on the other hand, i have no appointments or deadlines today, so i'm free to exercise, which i probably will. and i had no reason to freak out about my insomnia, so i didn't (though only thanks to years of "training", because i used to freak out really bad). it looks like most of the side effects happen because of chemical tolerance and, especially, withdrawal. so i think in the end it has a lot do with changes in my metabolism (which the drug itself also affects, so there's a dynamic feedback loop)
i think it's nearly impossible for me to control it, and it's better if i just keep learning instinctive/intuitive ways to react to immediate signs by simply asking myself yes-or-no questions ("should i take more ritalin? should i take a break? should i eat? should i drink some water?") instead of trying to predict things or follow a more analytical approach. in the end that's sort of the point anyway (to think less and do more)
