The main problem I've found with WP is that it's become too repetitive. Stereotypically, aspies are "supposed" to "enjoy" repetition, but I've found over the last few years I've been getting really f*****g sick of it. Still, online forums are like crack to me, so I can't help but keep coming back here.

I've only been here for about a year and it became too repetitive about four months into that.

There's still lots of good stuff on WP.

I wish the parents forum were a little more active, though. There are some great people there, who give great advice.

The PPR forum could become great----after all this Trump-Hillary crap is over.

There's definitely good stuff, but my experience has been at a rough guess a 1/10 ratio of good to bad. As I've started to find other places for the good stuff, WP looks less and less appealing. I've also started to realize that this place is actively making my opinion of other aspies more negative, though it's still not at the point of outright hostility it was when I first came here.

PPR has been a vile cesspool of vitriol and hatred the entire time I've been here and I don't imagine that could ever change unless moderation is willing to take it more seriously. Together with L&D it reflects poorly on this community and it would probably be a net positive for WP if both of those forums were deleted.

I thought Tallyman left because of problems with the forum itself and nothing being done about it. I've seen staff in other forums quit for similar reasons.

Someone said his wife was sick and he wanted to devote more time to her. That's just hearsay, though.

If you're a moderator, you tend to get tired of all the crap that you have to moderate. There are times when it seems like a thankless job.

At times, you're sort of damned if you do, damned if you don't.

It's not a very active forum. I was hoping I'd find some sort of enlightenment here, but it hasn't been so.

For the Love and Dating section in particular, since that's where I post the most, everyone there either makes me feel jealous and resentful, or just tick me off.

Meistersinger, sorry to see you go.

I have two comments to make in regard to people leaving the site.

1. If a person is having an issue with "vitriol" or too much drama, the challenge is to mentally filter it out to still avail oneself of the supportive functions. That could include never going to L&D and PP&R, or just refusing to take the bait. If certain topics are repetitive, don't open the topic.

2. If you are ready to quit the place, just go. No need to make an announcement.

It's thankless, but critical... and important to do well. Mods here do a good job at handling individual misbehavior (harassment, personal attacks) but in my opinion do poorly at moderating content. It would be interesting to know how many aspies in search of a community have been scared off by some of the posts here.

A PP&R type sub-forum in any forum I've ever been on, has been what this one is. Not meaning to be crass, but when it comes to that type of section the "don't internet if you can't internet" rule applies.

Also I think it's a good idea to educate yourself in the skills and rules of debating before entering.

I think it would need heavy moderation, and I doubt that's realistic.
