Much to my chagrin, I am usually approached by strangers, whom feel it's necessary for me to hear about their 'fascinating' lives. I try my best to appear engaged and interested but the truth is I couldn't give a s**t.

Conversely, to merely communicate with others can help me sometimes, as too many years spent in isolation has caused me to be somewhat paranoid.

I guess I need to accept that if want to fit in, I will need to play the social game by engaging in superfluous small talk. But then again, that's a rather stupid thing to say as what is meaningless to me will be meaningful to someone else. It's all subjective, really.

I hate talking to strangers, in public or anywhere else. Small talk is pointless and boring, and makes me very anxious. I look for any opportunity to escape whenever I'm faced with strangers who decide to arbitrarily start chatting to me.

I avoid strangers altogether, even helpful store associates. Occasionally, I may reply if greeted (working on).
