Sounds good.

Ignorance is bliss. And NT's revel in being stupid, most of their "favourite" stories are anecdotes of stupid/injurious things they've done.

I don't want to seek social situations out, but if it's been a while and it's for a short enough time and I'm drunk, then I am able to enjoy them.

perhaps. i've certainly learned the trueness of "ignorance is bliss" in recent years, myself.

you can lock me in a room with a bunch of elated, euphoric AS types and i'd still be unable to put together why they're so happy. it's not that NTs are into stupid stuff (though lots of them are), i just have trouble reading faces and emotions.

i'm getting better at it though.

Well isn't that because those stories are most likely to be funny?

To me that doesn't seem to be a stupid thing to be doing its just providing entertainment for others. Its a good way to enjoy a conversation with others.

1 yes if there is a common purpose , shared interest.

2 yes if there is some sort of structure

3 No if totally unstructured

4 no, if there is lots of noise

5 no if there is alcohol being used thoughtlessly or to excess.

I find that NT's revel in being stupid to the point of self harm. "I got so drunk last night I don't remember anything and there was a stranger in my bed."
I've seen three men at a party smack each others behinds until they bled, with severe bruising.

The only time stupid-injurious stories are funny is when an addict is telling all of the horribly dangerous and stupid things they did - as a warning to others.
Sure if you do something that is an accident and stupid, that doesn't cause harm or put someone in harms way then that's fine.

exactly.

i don't see why it's worth getting so worked up over this simple fact of relationships.

are you pretending to care about their well being or something?

In general, not much. I do enjoy visits with a few close friends or family members who I can relax and be mostly myself around. But then only in controlled doses, not too frequently.

I would rather be at home comfortable and reading about them in books.

However, I do get tired of my family worrying that I must be lonely or depressed. I've been both on occasion, but I would not describe myself using either term nowadays.

I meant I would rather read about people in social situations in books.

Thank goodness there aren't books about my family :D

In a small town like where I live, I know a great number of people in the town even if I don't recognize them (prosopagnosia). So I just assume that I know everyone and talk to them. The problem is that I'm pretty bad about saying something that comes out all wrong from what I intended and that does cause problems.

For example, when I walk into one of the two restaurants in town, the odds are that I should know everyone there, at least those over the age of about 25 or 30. So I talk to them. Also, those who work at the restaurants, I've often known for years even if I don't recognize them. So I talk to them, too.

In some ways, I liked it better when I lived in the Houston area. I wasn't expected to know everyone and so I kept to myself more and didn't usually make ridiculous errors.
