[color=#0D933B][b]I used to have symptoms of (and in fact a diagnosis of) obsessive-compulsive disorder, but I would say it has gone into remittance. My OCD features were mostly associated with cleanliness: I would insist that others wash their hands before I'd eat the same food as them; I would never eat after my brother because one time (we were very young) I saw him scratch his posterior; I washed my hands excessively such that they chapped quite badly in the winter; I closed toilet lids with my feet; and I put my hand under my shirt to turn door knobs. I would also check to make sure all the doors were locked and all the windows closed before going to bed. I had a compulsive need for symmetry such that if I scratched my right arm, I would then scratch my left one. I had a peculiar brand of perfectionism that induced me to write my full name (first, middle, and last), write out acronyms and abbreviations, and perseverate on details of that sort.

A lot of that sounds like me, except I still have OCD symptoms (though not as bad-they get worse under stress). I too was diagnosed with OCD (and that years before AS was even really a diagnosis). My hands still get bad during the winter (I have to use lotion), and I still need stuff to be clean. I wash my hands if I've touched something "dirty" before I touch something "clean". I think the mental aspects of it have maybe lessoned.

Well, I do it for germs...or what I percieve as dirty at any rate.

I had/have both. A need for balance (why I liked multiples of 2, and especially 4 and 16, though I'm not as obsessed with that), and it definitely is done to reduce fear and anxiety. I also start pacing and sort of hyperventilating if I'm super stressed. I don't need the multiples of stuff anymore, and don't have to touch things a certain number of times anymore really (thankfully).

I think I have OCD. I've never been diagnosed, but I know I've got it. I go all around the house checking little things, like making sure all lids are on pens, all drawers are completely shut, that my hands are clean....all little things like that. I know it is part of OCD. It's not severe, but I have got a touch of it.

Well, I would say that I have an anally retentive personality style, but I don't know if I have OCPD. Usually when people post up personality disorder tests on this site, I score very highly for OCPD compared with the other personality disorders. I wouldn't say that I have a personality disorder, but i think aspies are very likely to develop it or at least to develop an anally retentive personality style.
