I've had an interest in pink Floyd album cover for the last few weeks. Not the music,or the band just the album cover dark side of the moon. As a continuation I've decided to paint it.

I painted the cover of the album 'Fragile' by 'Yes' in oils on my bedroom wall when I was a teen :)

Have you still got it?

No, it was on my bedroom wall and that house was sold 20 or so years ago. I also did a 4 foot high anarchist, circle-A symbol in red spray paint and some other graffiti on the walls of my bedroom :) I would think it's all been painted over by now.

That sounds really cool.mi would've liked to see that :)

Quite random in time, relevance, length, and depth as long as I had encountered it.

Mostly it's experimental (Which I pretty much prefer having, since it's likely useful, but it's expensive), if not collecting or hoarding. (Which I'm glad 'collecting' usually didn't lasts long for me)

I was just a bit lucky that my long term obsession, special interest, and passion is one and the same, (Crafting) sometime in my early childhood. And manifests in a more quiet manner -- I don't talk about it. And I choose not to talk about it. At the same time being appropriate enough not to be ashamed of it, being useful enough to sell it, and I could inconspicuously stim in public with it.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this site, and I am also new to Aspergers, being diagnosed only three months ago. I only heard of this community from one of John Elder Robison's books so I thought I'd check it out.

My intense interests usually stem what I'm doing for work oddly enough. I am a shoe salesman since June of last year and all I want to do now is learn about the anatomy of feet, different types of shoe construction, shoe manufacturing, the history of shoes etc. My therapist says I am driven to becoming the best at whatever I do, and to me, that involves knowing every possible fact and bit of potentially useful information about my job's product.

I have other intense interests, and some of them are from childhood interests (sports, history, automobiles, etc.) and others are from events that have happened to me (when I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease 4 years ago, I wanted to know as much as I could about the disease). I call it "being prepared" not obsessed!

Hope to learn more from what you all have to say!

Some special interests come and go, usually when I decide they're not for me or if I've done enough art on them. But other special interests (Disney, Western movies) will never leave.
I think I get into an interest if I know I will like it. It's a huge leap of faith at times. Other times I've been curious about something for a long time and finally have the opportunity to get into it.

While my special interests change over time, I have done so much research on my topic of interest that the knowledge I gained reading about it stays in my memory bank. If someone asks me for factual information on a certain topic, I can recall it and give people the answer. One constant in my life is pets and animals. Music and books are also enduring interests.

Similar to my own experience. I have a shockingly bad memory, but remember things much better if it's linked to an interest

I have a good memory when people slowly tell me things. If they rapid fire at me, I have to write it down.
