I like the Simon and Garfunkel version.

It sounds nice, even if it is merely the "folk" version, with rock-n-roll sounds added afterwards.

Yeah, the 1964 version is the best. The "wall of sound" version is a little over the top.

sorry to hijack the thread so this will be it...

the simon and garfunkle version is more on the verge of imploding...

the disturbed version is more on the verge of exploding...

I agree. But, in my opinion, the original 1964 version ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zLfCnGVeL4 ) was best, the wall-of-sound 1965 remixed version ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8NypBxbUgU ) was too cluttered, and the 2015 Disturbed version ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Dg-g7t2l4 ) was a great rearrangement.

I have a polucybto disclose if withholding the information would lead to difficulties. I have winged things well enough not to need to make any disclosure even after my assessment for work purposes.

However, I find it useful if opportunity arises to use the information I absorbed during all the research I did before going for an assessment to inform, for example if the topic of vaccines arises in conversation.

Many people are not aware of the current understanding of Autism as a spectrum of presentations, the changed in diagnostic practices over the last 50 years and other traits meaning far fewer cases are missed, which has unfortunately been misinterpreted ad some sort of epidemic.

I go as far as joking about showing one or two traits.

I tell those that need to know what they need to know.
Coworkers learn that i have some difficulty understanding non-verbal communications; members of my hobby groups know that i get overwhelmed sometimes and need to take a time-out in those situations.
My employer, family and close friends know the whole story.

Aside from this; if someone figures it out and confronts me about what they know, i will not deny anything and simply admit that they are right, but i do not go around telling everyone what i am

If the Disturbed version is on the verge of exploding , how do you rate The Dickies version which IMO is the best cover I've heard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30ad2cyxZCE

I do not hide, but I do not tell.

I don't have to say, plus my lanyard tags indicates it.

I don't like wearing jewelry, so lanyard tags would work well for me. My disability-alert card arrived just today from the Crisis Intervention Team Inc. ( http://www.gocit.org/care-cards.html ). I guess I can now just flash my card instead of communicating. Hehe.

I've only told a few of my friends. Only 2 of them believe that I actually have ASD and one family member actually picked up on it when I was far younger based on my behavioral traits.

I've considered it before, mainly because it can be used as an excuse, and also because I like to get to know others. Now in retrospect, I think would actually be a terrible idea, and people will just treat you based on the stereotype; they will ostracize you as a weirdo and talk to you like you cannot understand speech

It doesn't have to be an excuse - it can be a reason. And weirdly I haven't received this response if that's of any help to you. People haven't ostracized me or started treating me as a stereotype - but they have stopped expecting me to be "normal" and just like them, because they are made aware of my differences straight away. They also have not started treating me like I'm stupid or cannot understand them - but I have had some interesting discussions from it trying to explain my lack of social emotions to neurotypical peoples. An "out" ID as autistic can actually start interesting conversations, and the knowledge of it does relieve some social pressure in my experience, when you're no longer trying to fake anything else.

I've told many people because I want to tell my story that I'm autistic and I'm happy to be alive. I like to tell people the reason that I'm Pro-Life and against Autism Speaks.

If I need to, yes. I don't just casually mention it though.

Quote:
If so, who and how do you do it?

On a need to know basis.

Quote:
How have people reacted?

They'd either figured it out already, or telling them made it click (I'd compare it to where I swear I recognise a voice but can't place it, and when someone says "that's X person from Y TV series", it clicks and becomes so obvious I don't know why I missed it). Nobody has been surprised, nobody has thought I wasn't, and nobody has talked down to me or anything. It's been positive.

And if not, then why?

I'm not sure. I just don't feel I need to. I don't know what I'd even say. And there's that I don't want the possibility of it being all they see I guess. Also that I'm not used to knowing people know. I don't think I have a particular reason why not.
