Oh come on....I didn't mean it that way, and you know it.

I was just struck by the change in terminology over the years.

A "binder" in the 1960s was known as a "loose leaf."

I was just observing how language changes. That's it.

And I thought it was funny.

To me, at least, it read as if you were taking the piss out of me for calling it a turntable and not knowing what a record player was. A change in terminology (record player->turntable) is not particularly funny and therefore you must be laughing at me (the "LOL").

If that was not your intention, then I apologise.

Interesting, perhaps. Funny? Not really.

Well, I think it's funny.

Language change can be funny.

Why are we arguing, anyway?

You have a very useful skill---which I don't have.

If you talk to my GF ( thats not an invitation  ) she would tell you I have lots of skills and am very capable of lots of things expect hanging on to a decent job. You can have all the skills in the world but if you have crippling social anxiety and depression you're not going to fair very well in this life unless you catch a lucky break.

I remember paying £100 for a Nokia phone in the 90s (I also remember pre-mobile phone days)....now it's nearly £1000 for an iPhone 7+. Times are changing a lot. People can still be as materialistic as they were in the 90s, it's just that it costs more money now to be such. People will fork out £2500 for a top spec Macbook Pro but you can pay half that or less for a similar or identical speckled Windows laptop. Macbooks do have better build though.

Or something...!

Nah, Mr. Ferris, I'm not that sort of guy LOL. I'd be a real heel if I tried to move in on your girlfriend---and I wouldn't do it, anyway.

I wish there was a way you could get rid of that crippling anxiety. You have good skills, which I don't have.

I'm not. I own very little on purpose - I hardly have any furniture, my phone is an old Nokia brick which I was given second-hand years ago, I don't keep books unless I'm absolutely sure I'll want to read them again, I'm not into technology and can't stand clutter. The only thing I collect is cuddly toys...I do have a lot of those. :)

I own one room wrath of stuff, and a push bike. 8)
