Interesting. So planning ability would account for trouble making decisions. Would it also explain why I have a horrible time judging how much time I need to get ready (for work, going somewhere, whatever)? I'll always think I have plenty of time, and then all at once notice I should have left 10 minutes ago. I can't judge how long it's going to take to get ready. That would seem like it's a "planning ability", but I don't know if it's part of this executive dysfunction. What else does it cover?

i have the opposite problem. every time i am supposed to be somewhere, i calculate how long it should take to come, and i end up at the place always like half an hour earlier. living in portugal is therefore difficult. people here don't care much about anything and they are always late at least half an hour. once i was supposed to meet a person i knew is always late, so i did my best to be late too. i wanted to come after him, so would make him wait. i came on time anyway.

Such things as what do you want for lunch nearly always results in me saying I dunno. Every once in a while I have a strong craving for something, but otherwise I don't really have any preference.
Someone asking what I liked about a book or movie always leaves me thinking. I liked it, but what parts about it did I especially like? It takes me forever to come up with an answer.
Asking me my favorite food can grind me to a halt as I try and compare how I feel about each food that I like and attempt to rank them against each other.

I feel so weird when I can't decide what my favorite of something is.

Yeah i am the same and my family always seem to say come on and make a choice.

Yeah, I tend to hate being asked what I want for dinner, or why I liked something or that kind of thing, if somebody gives me two specific alternatives, like 'would you like chicken or beef?" I can *usually* decide which one i want, unless it's really close between the two, but if somebody gives me an open-ended question like that my usual response is 'I dunno' unless I have a random craving for a particular food or whatever, sometimes I ask 'what do we have" to get a list of options because that makes it a lot easier.

I have ended up compiling a mental list of "favorites" that I fall back on in a pinch. So I end up getting the same thing to eat every time we go to a certain restaurant and if I have to choose the place I end up picking the same one all the time. Is that all that is meant by favorite? Maybe I just never understood the term fully.
Only having 2 choices would make things a lot easier for me too. It is much easier to judge which you would rather have between two things than between many. This just reminded me of Adrian Monk from the TV show Monk. He has a really hard time making any sort of choice as well. I wonder if it has something to do with OCD.

Can you give an example? Unfortunately I haven't seen the show since NBC aired the first few episodes of the first season, as I don't get cable. (I really loved it!)

Yes, yes, yes! It's the very same for me! And people even get angry at me for the food-thing! :)
