I'm a big guy, 6'2". I've always gone either way. I could have been 19 at 16 (If I didn't shave), but now at 22 often get told I look younger (if I shave). What is weird is that my facial hair hasn't progressed much since I was 16, it's very fair and sparse in most places, only having really darkened and become a little thicker under my chin :?

Edit: I sometimes get a few years older now, but this may be the way I act.
I also still get acne, something which is more prevalent in youth.

People have always underestimated my age by about 5 years. I used to think it was neoteny, ie rounded, childish features retained into adulthood, then I lost a bunch of weight and found out I actually have a pretty good man-jaw under all the blubber. So, I don't know.

I have that as well.
This is why i shave every day.
It simply doesn't look good if you let it grow while it's not all covered.

When I was 13, people called me "Mrs." instead of "Ms.", that happened several times.

Now, people from college says my younger sister seems older than me :P

I'm 21 but people usually mistake me for 15 or 16.

I was young looking until about 30. The divorce and crap that went on from there over the last 6 years has aged me quite considerably. People aren't at all suprised when I tell them I am 36 and I guess if I said I was 40, I probably would raise any eye-brows either.

I'm 31 but I got asked for ID when buying alcohol in the CO-OP recently. I look very tired though big dark circles.

Right Grotbags has to go that avatar is creepy.

I'm actually 33, but people usually guess anywhere between 24-28. I always figured it was a combination of my oily skin ( thanks, dad) and the fact that I don't sunbathe.

For me it's always been dependent on my hair. My head grows hair and beards and brooms etc all over the place but I hate them so I shave them all off whenever I can be bothered, so people always either think I'm like 5-10 years older if I'm hairy and 5-10 years younger if I'm hairless. Although, yeah, the baldness does give it away a bit now.

I was at a wedding a few weeks ago and I was at the bar getting some champagne for me and my mother. The bartender says I need to show ID, and my mum puts her arm around me and says loudly "She's my daughter and Shes 24!!" It was quite funny. My mum knows how much I hate being mistaken for a 16 year old.

Im 27 and although it is less now I still get asked for ID (drinking, smoking, gambling etc age is 18 here) it is annoying but I have got used to it. I like it now when I don't get asked I was really annoyed when I got told I was a "schoolgirl" the other day.

I work in a store where I have to sell cigarettes. I am 20, and to sell cigarettes, you have to be at least 18. A conversation several days ago:

"What do you need?" I asked.
"Before you do anything, you'll just have to call the manager," a woman said.
"Why do you need to talk with the manager? Do you have a return?" I asked.
"I need some cigarettes," she replied.
"I'm old enough to sell cigarrettes," I replied.
"Well, you don't look like it."

Another conversation:

"Are you going in that to graduation?" someone asks.
I ponder what they could be referring to. I don't know yet, so I respond to "graduation." Since only 10% of people in my state or somewhere around that number graduate from college, I assume she's probably referring to high school graduation. And at least one high school's graduation ceremony, according to several other people who bought things in the store earlier, was occurring that very night.
"No ma'am, I graduated a couple of years ago."
EDIT: I later realized she was referring to my employee apron. Hah.

So, at least some people think I'm younger than I am. Whether that's bad or good, I don't know.

When I was living in New Orleans (the boozing capital of the world)..where babies have screwdrivers in their bottles to help them sleep...(I am exaggerating)...

I lived a block away from a small, quaint family owned Grocery store, and every day my roommate sent me there to buy him two tall boys...And For the first 2 weeks of my living there I went and got them no problem..without being carded...

Then...after two weeks of doing this once or twice a day every day, all of a sudden, they carded me (i am 10 years over the legal drinking age)....so there was a minor fiasco...i was annoyed and showed resistance, but went home got my id and came back (i was always forgetting it)

so for a while they would card me every time..and I sorta got the impression that they were picking on me because they didn't like my looks or something...because they didn't bother carding anyone else...so after a while they would wave me through without needing to see my id...so i stopped bringing it with me...and after about a month....I got carded again..this was by the assistant manager lady who I would see every single day.....and i didn't have my I.D....so she started yelling at me....so I had a meltdown....which lasted all day...and I never went back to that store again....and had to go to one of several that were more expensive and further away...

But at no other store did I ever get get carded....only once at the A&P...

Why do Aspies stay looking young?

I have a beginning hypothesis that along with some immune issues we may have (both good and bad), our methylation pathways may also be affected. The methylation pathway is involved in eradicating free radicals from our bodies to prevent oxidation which ends up damaging cells. I wonder, what with some of our unusually youthful appearances, if there might not be something regarding our methylation pathways in that we may remove particular types of free radicals which cause skin damage and other types of more obvious outward aging thus keeping us looking strangely youthful.

To me, the idea is one of the few that offers some promise of a scientific explanation as to why some of us are unusually youthful in appearance and it's not just necessarily because we may wear different kinds of clothes or wear less make-up etc.
