Great: trite colloquialisms go hand and hand with lack of evidence, skill, and ability. You'll have to look up colloquialism (hint: ctrl +c to copy and ctrl +v to paste, since I'm sure your spelling skills are on par with your rhetorical ability).

Ad hominem fallacy.

Finally, the appropriate term for the appropriate rhetorical device, that said it's not a fallacy.

You equated using a phrase you consider a "trite colloquialism" with a lack of evidence. You attempted to defeat the argument by attacking the person and not the argument itself, ergo it was a fallacious argument.

I guess so. I have to get off anyway, I have a movie to watch; "Trainspotting". It's about a bunch of autists and their stimming. You should check it out, worth a watch.

Trainspotting is an awesome film but.......

Who has got autism in Trainspotting , I don't remember anyone showing signs although to be honest last time I watched it my knowledge of autism was limited to savants.

Or was that some kind of humour that went over my head.

I won the argument a page back when you refused to provide evidence, or even stay on topic. What you quoted was just me toying with you, lol.

Sorry, I thought that when they were indulging in all that ritualistic habitual heroin use that maybe they were all autistic and that it was a stim.

(yes, it was a joke that went over your head)

You've added nothing of any value to this thread, please don't drag it any more off topic than you already have.

Where's the "smoking is a stupid disgusting habit and I don't wish to abuse my body that way" option?

I hate the idea of smoking. People who smoke heavily come up with all these excuses and they blame everything but the smoking when they get a constant bad cough.

I must be remarkably boring as I neither smoke nor drink. I am hoping to try some medicinal marijuana soon, though.

I didn't have that option because it was a neutral thread - it's not a pro smoking thread

IMO smoking does not make someone interesting however drinking can , although drinking just turns me into a loud obnoxious as*hole

*waits patiently for all the anti-drinkers to jump down my throat*

It's OK, it's not so easy to detect a joke on message board because there's no tone of voice to back it up. I should have put an emoticon there. 8)

I do have very strong opinions about smoking.
