I don't feel any differently when I drink coffee.

I have a cup of decaf coffee once a day and that's it, though no serious side effects noticed yet, I don't drink coffee everyday though.

Xatrix, that's not good! I can have two a day, I only care for more than that. Was your heart attack due to heart disease? Pretty scary either way.

My heart attack was due to undiagnosed high functioning Autism (Asperger's Syndrome) and the incredibles stresses that came with it. I'm 42 now and I was only diagnosed 3 months ago. I was over stressed all the time since childhood primarily because I thought I was going crazy. I've got things under control right now but I'm still quite overstressed and my therapist currently lists my anxiety status as "inconceivable."

I'm still learning a great deal about this neuro-developmental condition known as Autism and I'm a work in progress.

Oh wow, Stress can be really dangerous, I have a feeling my fibromyalgia and insomnia is a major symptom of undiagnosed ASD as well, my daughter was diagnosed recently, and my boys have ADD, and one has severe tic's, he's waiting for his appointments for the psychologist and paediatrician.

Esmerelda, thanks for your info about coffee, tea and asthma. My asthma can be pretty bad at times, it's getting worse as I get older.

I love the smell of coffee but can only drink it if it's sweet. I can drink tea without sugar though, but it's nicer with sugar. The caffeine in coffee and tea has no effect on me, can even go to bed at night and sleep after a coffee.

I'm addicted to Coke Zero. I drink it a lot and the day doesn't start right for me without a drink of it. In 2013 during a hospital stay, I got terrible headaches due to a lack of Coke Zero but my dad saved the day when he brought in some cans of it when he visited.

I find coffee relaxing if anything. I used to drink tons of it, pretty much one cup after another much of the day.

I strongly suspect I have ADD issues as well as AS so my caffeine addiction now makes a fair bit of sense. I'm just trying to find a stronger (preferably legal) alternative stimulant.

I used to be sensitive to coffee. It gave me the s**ts, it agitated me... but now 10 years later it hardly effects me at all. I have gotten used to it I guess?

Does coffee affect Aspergers & Autism differently than other people?

I think probably not.

I like coffee very much and enjoy it every day. 8)

As a musical term for sure, "the '80s" imply the late '70s and early '90s. You can think of them as tapers of this golden decade.

I don't like coffee but I sometimes take Vivarin to help me wake up. Vivarin is a caffeine pill that has the equivalent of a cup of coffee. it helps me feel more awake but that's about all I notice if I take just one. However taking two makes me hyper & shaky. I have a tremor disorder thou that some meds can aggravate so that may be why the Vivarin makes me shaky.

I've wondered as well. Coffee (or any form of caffeine) neither keeps me awake nor makes me hyper; in fact, I drink it when I'm anxious because it calms me down. I drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day, including at least one in the evening.

I don't drink coffee very often, but when I do it makes me feel relaxed, and tired as well.

At first, I thought it was just in my head, but with the number of times caffeine made me feel that way, I realised it couldn't just be a coincidence. I wondered if it was the heat of the drink, or the amount of milk, but nothing I altered seem to make a difference.

So then I decided to research it, and it turns out that caffeine does make some people tired, but it's fairly unusual and to do with metabolism levels.

People metabolise caffeine at different speeds, and for some people they process it so fast that they skip the buzz of energy part, and just hit the crash.

I drink a large amount of diet soft drinks, all with caffeine in. I think if anything it helps me concentrate. It can make me more stressed in some situations, but I tend to stressed out anyway when this happens.
