I'm nineteen now, and I was diagnosed with SPD this year. A pediatrician wanted to test me for ADD way back when I was nine, but my mom refused. Despite that hiccup, I was "diagnosed" with Aspergers by my family years ago, in a half-serious manner, but I only considered the actual possibility last May. I realized, somewhat belatedly, that my understanding of autism must be seriously flawed because I kept seeing representatives of autism who were much higher functioning than I. After a bit of research, everything started to make sense. I expect to be assessed sometime this year.

I've never been diagnosed with autism. It wasn't until about a year ago that I decided I'm more than likely autistic. My first counselor diagnosed me with anxiety and depression. I'm not sure why none of my counselors ever diagnosed me with autism, but apparently it manifests differently in women or something.

I realised last year but I think my parents knew since I was young, they just didn't know what it was. They just thought I was over sensitive.

I was assessed this year but I'm hoping to get a full assessment done before September this year.

I'm 25 but showed signs around 2-3 when I couldn't socialise with other kids

As early as 10, late as 14.

The former is more or less a draft from various tests from various observations of professionals from various places (school councillors, nearby psychologists, etc).
The latter involves extensive tests from (possibly the only one that time) a diagnostician that could only do those kinds of tests in this country.

I'm turning 23 this year.

I was diagnosed at age 27 by a psychologist and then it was confirmed by a psychiatrist a few months later. I still have my diagnostic report, I'm 41 now.

Like this thread.

I was normal between 1980 and 1984....

Then I entered the social realm of institutionalised education and quickly picked up all sorts of diagnoses (and a really big chip on my shoulder), probably between 1985 and 1987:

Minimal brain damage (MBD; this is my favorite)
Upgraded to ADD (overfocused; not hyperactive)
Low muscle tone and poor coordination
Dyslexia (really a case of late age autodidactism)
Central auditory processing disorder

Like many have said before... there was no Asperger's Syndrome diagnosis then.

I diagnosed myself sometime last year at 36 years old and was diagnosed at a professional a few months later. My mom (in her 70s) was there and was super relieved. She suspected I was autistic but was confused because I didn't present like classic autism in documentaries and films or like her friend's Aspie son. My dad is also definitely an Aspie and undiagnosed in his 70s.

I tend to think that if you persistently think you may be autistic... you probably are.

I recently turned 33. Self diagnosed at 32, on my birthday. Had my assessment 6-7 months ago. Asd and depression. I don't really think the depression part is accurate, but I guess alexithymia isn't in the dsm (?).
Still trying to process all of it.

Before that was:
Add or adhd in about third grade, somewhere between 93-95 maybe.
Then depression, bipolar, depression.
Then anti social personality disorder (!), That would have been around 98-99 I guess. That and the meds that came with it and the behavior of the doctor and counselor I was seeing were the last straw for me. Didn't see a doctor about anything unless I thought I was going to die until I figured out and felt confident that I might have Asperger's.

I'm sure there are a few other things in that list, too.
