No, nor do I feel that word holds much meaning anyway.

Yes, I was

But I don't know what you define as a long time. I suppose I see a long time as several years homeless

That's why I voted ''Once, for a short time''

I ended up homeless and even lived in a homeless hostel for several months

Poor executive functioning, and any number of severe sensory issues, can make it easier for some autistic people to live outside of society somehow. Or they may not have any choice

I was for about 3 months.
I stayed in shelters.
I stayed for about 2 weeks with a questionable man.
I slept on benches sometimes.
I slept under a bridge by an older man for 2 nights till he got drunk. He didn't harm me. I just foresaw danger.
I slept on grass once by a Navy base.
I slept in hotels for about a week.
Used YWCA as a shower and exercise place at times.
Had food stamps for a bit.
I worked a day at a factory.

I got out by coming back to a friend, going to inpatient, got in a program that paid for a limited time for food and a hotel room while I searched for a job.

I lived there for a few months.
Found an apartment, and lived there for almost a year.
When the lease was up, I could not afford another.

I am coach homeless now.
I got WIC, food stamps, working on disability with a professional, have a very low paying job that is out of season now, and have a voucher for housing.

My mental health is bad.
Hoping for a good thing soon to work.

It is in fact quite possible that an untold number of homeless people are undiagnosed autistic

They cannot maintain a regular life, but have no diagnosis and therefore no means to understand their executive functioning & social differences. So they learn to survive by being homeless

How did I get out of it?
I had a social worker, who helped me apply for social housing whilst I lived in the homeless hostel. I was very ill at the time and that was my only real option

The truth is, you think that YOUR life sucks.

You can change that.

Me too, a few weeks on the sofa of an older guy who, whilst in many people's eyes would have been questionable, and perhaps even was (a bit), showed me extraordinary kindness in my desperate situation.
He gave me his spare key, and he was respectful, and he was generous.

I'm eternally grateful to him  , as that was the start of me turning my life around and getting away from an absolutely dreadful, abusive family situation- internally and emotionally, not just literally.

Gosh, he was quite a character

I wish you very much luck in improving your current situation.

Yeah.
Sometimes getting help is the only real option.

When I PMS I have terrible bursts of depression, that are worse than I am willing to admit. That is a good description of what it is like for me.

Only one thing to do, and that is to get it treated. Because you are not stuck in it.

sand and stars in a bottle,

The man I stayed with didn't have the best house (condemned). He didn't have the best habits. His bed was dirty.
But, I didn't get raped.
Nor did I have sex with him.
And, he didn't force me to do anything.
In my eyes that's better than nothing.
Of course I left though.
