I also have poor executive functioning problems. Sometimes, trying to remember what I’m supposed to be doing in a given moment is hard to do. Even with meds for ADD it’s still an ongoing battle to perform to everyone else’s standards on a daily basis.

My functioning has improved a lot in the last five years or so, but I am having embarrassing problems right now.

Major problems. When I worked in an office still, I had the most wonderful admin assistant. She took very good care of me.

this would be a better country if our national scholastic curriculum stressed optimization of personal executive function.

Ironically, I had to design and present a Time Management course for my colleagues once. I could understand the hypothetical process, I just can’t do it!

It actually went well! Thinking about it again today made think that my (unknown at the time) aspie bluntness helped out. I told them that if someone interrupted them to chat while they were busy, it was okay to tell the interruptor to go away. Most people seemed surprised to learn that that was an option. I was a technical trainer for a number of years and then an investigator and a love of analysis and being able to lay information out at its simplest helped.

By complete accident I did. I’ve been retired from that life for ten years now and my mind still misses it. Body couldn’t handle a five day work week.

I wistfully watch squirrels and admire their ability to stay focused. At least, I think I do that.

Yes it is! I do some part time work but only an hour or two at a time. I live in a rural village. No more rush hour commute

I live out in the sticks as well. but no jobs out here. genteel poverty. takes close to an hour to drive to nearest wide spot in the road.
