I did not vote in the poll.

I can live with the name, but agree it would be nice to get rid of the alien character. That's not too big of a change, maybe Alex would consider it.

Rebranding is a much more complex thing than some people are aware of. There's always a chance that whatever the new name would be, would somehow be alienating that wasn't intended. Also, all pointers to the site would be broken. For these reasons alone, I would be opposed to changing the site name.

I can relate to the alien, so I wouldn't do away with it.

All I feel needs to be changed is a lot of the mentions of aspergers because that is so outdated now.

In some countries Asperger's is still being used as a diagnosis. My brother was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome earlier this year.

I like the name WrongPlanet. I feel like I'm on the wrong planet a lot. I don't think that makes me a freak. It just means that there are others like me, and therefore I'm not alone.

Changing the name would lead to a need to re-brand the site in addition. Therefore it seems like a waste of time.

Maybe I am reacting like an aspie archetype, but I would not favour any change. Far too many things in this world are changed for no very good reason.

Change for the sake of change alone is never a good idea.

Under the ICD-10, Asperger's still exists as a diagnosis.

I’m diagnosed with it by my counselor who uses ICD codes.

I was originally diagnosed with ASD in the DSM (V I think).

In all fairness the name is a tiny bit illogical.

The basic concept is that the World at large is "the wrong planet" for autistics. Ergo this website, being a safe haven for autistics, is the "right planet" for that group- autistics.

So the name should be something like "our planet". Kinda like "Myspace".

But its not worth it to change the name to "Our Planet".

I got no problem with the little green man. Kinda like him.

So don't fix it since it is essentially not broken.

I kind of like the name. I've certainty felt like I'm on the Wrong Planet so to belong to a forum called such feels appropriate and ironic.

I don't mind being equated to an alien. I have a friend that told me before I knew I had Aspergers that she thought I was an alien sent here to judge/observe the human race xD So I find it amusing.

The idea that it's dehumanizing; I suppose it is simply because Aliens are far as we know aren't human beings. But I don't believe that equates that we aren't deserving of respect. Are not all living being deserving of some manner of respect?

And if you want to get into all kinds of theories there are those that believe that we are actually hybrids of the developing humanoids from this planet and humanoids(aliens) from another planet. So according to that one theory we aren't really different. :D

I wouldn't mind if the Alien was changed though. I mean I'm fine with it being an alien, I think I'd just like one that was more sophisticated looking.

Just because Aspergers was removed from the DSM doesn't mean it has cease to exist. I have an Asperger diagnosis not an ASD one, same for many other people.

Spock is basically the patron saint of autistics.
