NT, here...Please allow me to intervene in this conversation...I once witnessed a student who during a pep-rally at a high school auditorium did something so-o-o inappropriate that he was arrested on site and possibly placed on the sex-offenders list of CA...

During the pep-rally when the auditorium was at full capacity...He somehow climbed and hanged from the high ceiling of the auditorium from where he was visible to the entire audience...Once hanging there, he "mooned" everyone present...I mean, he lowered his pants and underwear...Of course, he was an immature kid just acting mischievous...He well knew he was acting totally inappropriate...He probably just wanted to make his friends laugh...Sadly, back then, in CA, the law was already tough on crime (mid90s)...And the police officer who was stationed at the school's discipline office immediately arrested him...The officer told me that the student because of his age would most certainly end-up in the sex-offenders' list for this lude act...

This real- life story saddens me to date ..To think that NTs act inappropriately just for fun with serious, long-lasting consequences at such a young age...Let this experience be a warning to those of you on the spectrum (because of your lack of understanding of what is socially acceptable)...As a legal assistant with a degree in Legal Studies, i can attest to the fact that the judicial system has no mercy, which is clearly shown by statistics...Last i checked, at least 12% of inmates were believed to suffer from some cognitive disability...Stay out of trouble, my fellow WP friends...Please...

I remember seeing an article linked here over ten years ago showing that up to 70% of US prison inmates had some sort of learning disability or mental illness.

That's right. Mostly. Of course as a guy on it's sometimes not as easy also for NTs.

I've never actually used my diagnosis to be an as*hole, in fact quite the opposite, as I'm an AS denier (meaning I pretend I don't have AS, except on WP of course, but even here I don't go around deliberately upsetting people and make AS an excuse).

Sadly it seemed like many users here did that. I would call it out a lot on here and say things like "If you know it's going to be offensive, then it's not your AS making you say it, that is just you being an as*hole."

I'm sure that made me a troll here but I don't care, lot of those users here left.

No, it doesn't, and count yourself lucky if you simply get called out on and criticized for it on an internet forum. There are consequences to your actions offline.

Also, not everyone on the spectrum has difficulty learning appropriate behavior. Some do, perhaps, but I can count on both hands and then some the number of people I've known and witnessed who were inappropriate and, go figure, none of them have anything resembling ASD.

That seems extreme, also though misbehavior at school shouldn't even be dealt with criminally...but yeah that is sad. That is kind of a problem to though I wish they'd keep sex crimes limited to things like rape and sexual harrassment not things like a 16 year old had sex with a 17 year old, or a kid decided to moon everyone at an assembly.

You mean treating someone as a sex offender over a public urination charge might be a bit heavy-handed? 8O

Exactly, I mean idk maybe they could just call it public indecency or something.

I think public urination is hardly a crime, I mean if there are no restrooms available you can use, you will find a spot to go.

To get rid of public urination, make more public restrooms available, homeless people gotta poo and pee too or you will be seeing that out in public. My husband has had to clean up poop and urine at his work because homeless people would go there. It was enclosed area, had walls so it was more private for them to go. I said the city needs public restrooms 24/7. But the issue is when we do this, then it brings in drug crimes and people trashing them so that is why we lack public restrooms and why they close at night. So homeless people are left pissing and sh*****g in public and if they get caught, they are registered as a sex offender which I think is ridiculous. They were punished for something they had no control over.

That wouldn't improve the outcome; the term 'public indecency' is even broader. At least when 'public urination' is a distinct charge there's a greater possibility of it not being a sex charge (although still no guarantee).

I agree with you wholeheartedly...Sadly the letter of the law many times restrains humanitarian Judges from using their own wise discretion to deal with each case on a one on one basis...

The solution of offering more public bathrooms doesn't necessarily work...

When I was 11 I wanted to use B&Q like a working Wendy House...

A member of staff spotted me & moved me to the actual toilets.

Fortunately this was before the bath I had intended to have in the bath

In Ikea, I managed to have a nap on the beds and sit reading magazines on the chairs...

I wouldn't do this as an adult. As a kid and as an adult, my mental age has always been a bit young.

I thought they worked like the house at Eureka. That's not their intended purpose, esp at B&Q. You shouldn't use the stuff.
