The following states have registries and laws requiring that mental health professionals and physicians register autistic clients with the state:

Delaware
Indiana
New Hampshire
New Jersey
North Dakota
Rhode Island
Utah
West Virginia

These registries are mandatory, and the various state laws allow for providers to be fined, disciplined, or even lose their license to practice if they fail to report autistic clients. This is an egregious human rights and ethical violation.

Of The states listed, only New Jersey is trying to make it madatory - even its legality is being challenged.
Probably because NJ has the highest number of Autistic people compared to all the other states.

Don't worry about that. If you want to find out if you are Autistic, you need to look into getting a diagnosis. A diagnosis done thoroughly and correctly cannot be faked. But you have to make the decision. You can't just stay in limbo like this. Either decide to get a real diagnosis test done or just be happy with not knowing. But you can't keep stressing over whether or not you are faking. Just live your life as it works for you and don't worry about what anyone else thinks.

Skibum, Doctor of Mordenkainen has already received a diagnosis conducted by a professional, but he's doubting the reliability of his diagnosis because he has intrusive thoughts about he faked the symptoms.

It's just that my brain feels very uncomfortable because of these thoughts. Every time I act in a way that doesn't seem autistic I feel as if I'm a fake. It's making me feel a bit disconnected from reality. Have any of you experienced this with an intensity like this?

yes but on very rare occassions . By your descriptions , Could easily speculate that you are a autistic person .
Might be easy to fake a few symptoms , but you have "lots" of them , possibly starting early in life . Had the same questions about faking it , then had accurate recollections of my past history and experiences . And had strong autism in my family . So chose to see a psyche doc that specialized in the feild. Got a formal diagnosis .
Eased my mind somewhat .
btw Welcome to WrongPlanet Doctor of Mordenkainen.

Oh, I misunderstood. Thank you for clarifying!

I keep feeling like I'm faking it though. Sometimes it makes sense and sometimes it makes no sense but I still feel horrible physically and mentally. I start rocking back and forth sometimes and stimming but then I feel even more like I'm exaggerating everything.

Is there anything I can do, or is this something I have to wait out?

That's just a shitheaded thing for people to say to you. Cut those shitlords out of your life.

Thats what HE TELLS HIMSELF.

Or...what his "intrusive thoughts" tell him.

Not what others are saying.

Welcome to WP. I want to reassure you that if you have an official diagnosis, and the diagnosis was done correctly, you really can't have faked it. The diagnosis, when done correctly is designed so that you can't fake it. So, if you have an official diagnosis done by a competent diagnostician and the tests were real, you did not fake it.

My brain won't let go of the possibility that I somehow tricked the psychologist who specializes in autism.

you're a reverse hypochondriac. My own term.

You obviously are autistic. You cant possibly have "faked" it. You wouldnt have the knowledge of how to fake.
Further your intrusive thoughts are symptoms of some kind of psychiatric issue itself. You need professional help with that.

My diagnosis involved the doctor interviewing my sister and my gf (both when I wasnt there with him). My parents were no longer available.

Question: did the doctor who tested you interview your parents (or siblings or longtime friends)? If the doc got your momma to recount her memories of your childhood self(without you being there)...your momma wouldnt be able to conspire with you to fake it.

What do you mean the knowledge of how to fake? I researched autism a lot beforehand and knew the symptoms. They did interview my parents, but it still doesn't ease my mind, as I acted fairly normal from what I remember when I was younger. I definitely had some quirks though, and I wasn't a social person by most people's standards.

It would take more than just parroting symptoms you read or got from Utube to know how to snow the doctors, and you have to be consciously doing it on purpose.

But the important thing is that you answered my question with the affirmative...that they did interview mom and dad.

If they got data from your early life (vital for the diagnosis) reported about you from your parents then how could that data be YOU faking it? Or ANY one faking it?

Dude... the diagnosis is real.

Its these intrusive thoughts that are symptoms of some psychiatric issue you have. So consider getting THAT checked out as well as your autism.

But what if I've somehow convinced myself that I have it and reprogrammed my brain?

That's not humanly possible.

Cult leaders do it. My point is that I wonder and worry that I've managed to convince myself I have autism and started having symptoms.

Cult leaders change the way people think. They don't create different brains and neurological systems organically.

My last two posts were edited but the timing of the response was quick so that is why the post that he responded to isn't there.
