I grow tons of flowers in my front yard to the delight of the neighborhood.

yes was trying to do that until my dear neighbours thought that since I was outside.I was a fair target.. to hang out in front of my house and park cars across the street, where noone lives And take pictures of me.and convey the appearances of doing drug transactions.. If i did any flower garden work in my front yard. And it seemed that if I had spent much time outside..And was appearing to be tired, would then consistently get night time visits into my yard
Scouring for any yard tools left out or possible yard sheds unlocked. Saw this for years going on for many years.
And Happened to other neighbours yard and tool sheds, was informed,People who did these things were in the 50 and late 50s, Children of other older neighbours inciting these people( their adult children) to make money anyway they wanted, While they indulged themselves in self gratifying drugs and alchohol,as was informed and had seen.
Apparently as I have aged and these people have been jailed this happens much less than before. And a security system. So can feel for the above posting concerning learning the new methods that people seem to use to victimize
older people as we age .Even from other older people supporting their criminal children as they aged, that lived very locally to me.( obviously instilled with different values.)
But otherwise trying to age as gracefully as possible..

I have to ask... do these people have lives?

That is/ was their Lives...Saw them as groups around the corner , near a fwy offramp hanging out behind the liqour store nearby on repeated occassions . Periodically panhandling at the freeway offramps, When they seemed to care to,when they were bored.Inspite of being told they had free room and board and had some funds from unemployment. Honestly had no interest in improving themselves it appeared except to learn criminal techniques. Was even quite sure due to the disappearance of new leafblower out of a little garage that was locked. That they
or someone involved learned lockpicking . And had these same peoples older parents , before i knew better. That
i should leave my windows open to help air out my home. Without ever having been into my home . 8O
Which I never did !

Ah... so pretty much the type of people who'd be walking around the downtown San Francisco open drug marts with no pants or boxers on. Post-humans ready to climb back into the trees and chew leaves.

During the pandemic I lost 140 lbs. (64.5 kg) to get to a healthy BMI. I'm not overweight. I've been able to keep it off for 2 years so far. I'm fit.

I gave up sugar and ultra processed food during my weight loss and I think that's why I don't have arthritis or joint pain yet. I'm on the mediterranean diet now and I cook all my own food. I'm trying to use organic foods most of the time. I'm most fearful about developing a metabolic disease that results in the common old age conditions Diabetes, Cancer, Heart disease, or Dementia.

I'm doing more resistance training now than I've ever done. I'm trying to prevent some of the muscle loss that comes with age. I won't have anyone to take care of me if I lose mobility.

My 2 older brothers died young from cancers (before they were even eligible for social security). My 2 younger sisters are still alive but they complain of joint aches and pains. One sister has had breast cancer but it has been treated with drastic surgery.

sounds like you got all the good genes :wtg:

I don't do anything at all to help the ageing process, although I did purchase my first pair of slippers today.

Additional considerations? No idea lol

I feel the same. I am 57 years old. But I don't feel that way. I am also physically healthy, no serious problems. I am less often and milder ill then I was, when I was younger. I feel having a lot of energy.

I think I won't feel much different, when I am 65 or 70 years old.

I'm not sure how I deal with aging. Mentally, I don't feel much like a competent and capable adult, despite having been living on my own since I was 16. One would think it would become normal for me at some point, yet I still feel like I'm playing pretend adult and not doing a great job of it. Beyond that, physically, my body started breaking down in my 20s. I have some spine issues and nerve damage and the only thing that kept me from getting a dx of MS was the continued lack of lesions on my brain. Docs never could figure out what's wrong with me. Because of that, I didn't experience a sudden jolt at whatever age when your body starts to go to hell...it had already happened years ago. I'm actually in better repair now than I was at 25 thanks to diet and exercise, stretching and such. I suppose I'll keep on doing what I'm doing now.

Really, aging is an abstract and distant concept to me. I don't really know how to see myself as an age and I have no way to truly wrap my head around the possibility of being 80 or whatever...what that might look or feel like. I struggle with planning for/thinking about the long term future. Especially lately, I seem to be more 'in the moment' than ever before. If I'm being honest, I likely deal with aging by not dealing with it, thinking of it, or understanding it at all.

Still dodging most of the typical symptoms somehow, though no doubt my aches and pains are a tad worse than the used to be. The worst thing about it is morbid thoughts about death and the way it may happen to me, though I only seem to get that when I've been alone for too long. I should probably get myself hypnotised into believing religious doctrine, then I'd have lots of company with like-minded people and I'd be able to look forward to a comfy seat in the Good Place.

i wonder how y'all the rest of ya deal with aging. increased aches and pains and stiffness and reductions in capacity and facilities. i for one, prop myself up with nutraceuticals and electrical therapy designed to slow the aging process. my body limits me to walking, no more running or hard biking or even swimming laps for me as mr. arthur itis has invaded my articulating parts. aging for us spectrumites may have additional considerations compared to NTs. just my opinion.

People used to joke about how I was like an old man back in my twenties. I tend to be a low activity person, so I don't think I'll have a huge adjustment issue when it comes to old(er) age.

just to be on the safe side, i would not take that for granted, always be prepared.

Yeah, true.

I'll plan to do physical activities instead of just jumping into them. Sometimes I'll wait to see if there is an easier way to do something.

I read somewhere that autistic folk have a lesser life expectancy than NT's do, sometimes to the effect of a decade or two decades shorter. I am not sure how true that is, but it sounds a bit daunting.
