What's the coolest disorder to be diagnosed with?
I have to say that being diagnosed with anything isn't fun for sure. Being labelled 'gifted' can be a positive thing but honestly it gets some people teased too. There is no upside to having a 'diagnosis/label' generally in likely many people's opinions.
While I may have ADHD, Asperger's and some other labels, none of them to me would really stand out as cool. While I'd get anything to get rid of the depression and anxiety for good, at least the AS and ADHD are tolerable and I can work with them, for the ADHD I can take meds for. AS is just part of me. I am not an /AS sufferer/. AS isn't an illness or anything. It's challenging and all, I'd not cure it but it's not always the most ideal thing I contend with in my life but neither do I consider myself 'disabled' or 'handicapped'. I have considered myself 'differently abled' not a sufferer.
Um... how is that cool? *confused*

Synesthesia is wicked cool! I have it in spades, and I think it's the only 'disorder' that people ask me if they can catch it from me on purpose.
Depression can suck my ______
Face it, Asperger's people are the "bad boys" of the mental health realm. Cops want to know about us. We are sedated everywhere we go. By choices you make or do not make, you affect change in the space-time continuum and have to deal with the wrinkles in time from your action/inaction. Pick a reality where you will win, your mind is already creating all possible scenarios based on your memories. You have the power of deep thought, but you have to lose the day to day chatter and focus on the bigger pictures.
Long live ASpies!

I got a little more to add. We need to use the system instead of it using us. With the diagnoses, I can ride the bus for free, get scholarships and work-place accomadations. Hit the bread line, get the diagnoses and let them realize who we are and what we want. Food banks, housing assistance, you name it. The mental health place I stayed at had a word search to gage intelligence! I solve it upside down and found the hidden meanings in the code + 5 words. I talked to squirrels and they were going to do my bidding. It was really an extension of Pavlov's famous experiments, I gave them some apple pieces and watched them watching me while they ate. All I had to do is go "che che che che" and they would come to me. MHMH wanted me to come work for them because I am good and I am a scryer for the mentally ill and can help "wake" people up. Fear my wrath! Apies Unite!

What about those of us that would rather for the most part not to have to 'use the system' to prove that we are just as much worthy of acceptance and respect as other NTs?
It's one thing to get a bit of accomodations in school and work and maybe medical assistance and such but not all of us are here to use our 'diagnosis' as a way to use the government, I'd rather not ever have to be reliant on that.
