The correct answer is, the ball costs 5 cents.

For those of you having trouble, if you are a visual thinker, think of it visually and you should be able to see it.

It's not a math question. Technically it uses math but it's not about the math. It reveals a type of thought process.

Yes, I realized that and corrected my answer later in the thread. The underlying point is that it makes a broad "all autistic people..." statement which will always be wrong.

That is true. "All Autistic people..." is definitely a very bold, presumptuous, and inaccurate statement! :lol: :lol:

My thought process - come up with the expected misleading answer, prove it wrong, adjust it proportionally to correct it. No paper was harmed in calculating it.

When I see those facebook matrix "Can you find the number that doesn't match" things, I always start from the bottom. I'm cynical with math problems and puzzles. And why shouldn't I be? They're not supposed to be easy, so the fastest solution is to look for the angle that will make it most difficult and take away their perceived advantage against you.

The best example of this is "how many squares in this figure" where you know right off the bat (yeah, that was a pun) that they expect you not to count the four squares as a unique square.
