Polymaths and Aspergers

For my bit:
Music - I play the cello, bass, some guitar and drums, and used to play the trombone, tympani, and baritone.
Languages - I'm minoring in Spanish and may turn it into a second major. I'm good at it, and I also enjoy it..
Math - I'm not a big fan of calculus, but I do enjoy geometry and statistics (graphs are fun...). I also do calculations in my head that many people need a calculator for.
Political Science - I'm majoring in this. It's a typical major for aspiring lawyers, but I would be majoring in it even if I weren't going to law school.
Visual Art - I excel at handcrafts such as jewelry-making, crochet, and embroidery, as well as drawing.

Hello, NT, here...Happily married to my beloved (Aspie) husband...You have a very broad range of subject-interests, very similar to mine...I have a BA in Legal Studies with emphasis in Political Science, which i applied on a paralegal capacity in the legal profession for appx one decade...I am an innate teacher, so i pursued my emergency teaching credential, which i put it to use in local districts for appx one decade...I speak three languages, English, Spanish and French...I could probably easily learn more languages if i attempt it...I probably have Linguistic Intelligence...For sure i was born with Emotional Intelligence...Since childhood i have enjoyed the Fine Arts...I used to sing for family and friends beautifully...And i can paint beautiful portraits, which have won me Awards...Sadly, i was never encouraged to pursue my Artistic talents on a professional level...To date, i need a project as an outlet for my creativity...Ironically, i also enjoyed Math up to a certain level...(I say, ironically, because Math is not on the sphere of the brain that dominates the Arts)...I am what is considered a Global Thinker, which basically means that i will excell in any and all subject areas; but not at a genius level...To date, prior to the pandemic, i was taking hula dance classes...And in college, i played tennis...Anyway, it is a pleasure to know someone as well-rounded as me...Greetings from CA...
Post-Script: I have many other interests...I am a frustrated architect; i mean i should have studied it...And the study of human behavior, psychology, fascinates me...Carl Young 16-personality types is my hobby...

I'm not a polymath and I never will be. Does this mean I might not have Asperger's?

No. I am a bit confused by the results, because I heard in autism you can be really good in some subjects while being bad at others. I can't do maths very well.

Joe, i think polymaths are not the norm but the exception in NTs and Aspies alike...But don't take my word for it...I did not study the human brain...
What i do know is that humans have two spheres, the left and the right...And depending on which side of the brain dominates in your case, you will excell in those subject areas controlled by your dominant sphere...
Once in a while you will meet, though rarely, someone like Benjamin Franklin who had a broad range of interests that he mastered at a genius level...Am i making any sense???...
In the case of an Aspie, because of their superior focus, he or she may attain excellence in one or more subject areas controlled by the same sphere of the brain...And in a few cases, their excellence will reach the genius level...
What is extraordinary about a polymath is their ability to excell in subject areas controlled by both spheres of the brain...I am just speculating, here, and still at awe with such possibility...

Please don't be mislead by the term...As it does not strictly relates to Math but to a broader range of subject areas...The term applies to gifted people who master many different disciplines...

Everybody has things they are good at and things they aren't so good at. But what I mean is I can't relate to any of the posts in this thread. I've only got standard GCSE grades, which are below average. I've always found learning and studying difficult, maybe due to my ADHD.

Oh no, I wasnt getting the term confused, I am just saying, I am not good at everything because I severly lack in maths. In school I had no interest in subjects like religous education and physical education either and I was really bad at those.
I knew polymath didn't mean math.
But I don't have multiple qualifications or talents or savant skills like the other posters here. If I am good at something, I'm not like exceptional. A lot of NTs I know seem to be good at their hobbies and talents; well thought-out detail and focused. My attention span is too short. The next person to say ADHD does not exist I will bite.

You provoked a SMILE in my face...(Your last sentence)...You may not have many talents as gifted people, NT or not...But you have beautiful qualities that i perceive through your writings, here at WP...For example, You are HUMBLE in the good sense of the word...That is one of the most beautiful qualities according to me...Also, You have formidable writing skills...And i suspect you also have an innate emotional intelligence...Best wishes to you...
