I have kind of a game I play to make sure I clean what needs to be cleaned. On Sunday morning, I wake up bright and early, and write what needs to be done as individual things on index cards. Then I number them in order of importance.

I tape them up according to room, and can only remove them once that has been done. This way my mind doesn't get to wandering too much about what else needs to be done, so things are not done as half-ass as they normally are.

I enjoy seeing the piles of index cards dwindelling away throughout the day, so it gives me extra drive to not take breaks. This works for my kiddos as well :)

The only downfall is, if I slack off a little bit and have a few remaining index cards, I will never take them off of the wall because I just get used to them being there, lol.

That's a good tip about the index cards! I may try that. I have a problem getting all the dishes washed. I usually let them pile up for a week till the sink is overflowing then the sink never quite gets emptied even when I do wash them because there are too many dishes to fit in the dish drainer at once. I've been working on emptying the sink for over 3 months. I got it almost emptied this weekend. Will keep trying! lol I know I'm pathetic.

My other problem is having piles of junk mail, receipts and bills that need to be shredded but I never have time -- or want to do it when I do have time. I am overwhelmed by this. I get tons of mail.

lol, add it to your index cards :P

I used to wander around the house aimlessly when cleaning. I would just go into a room and spin around and around in the center rather than doing anything, or when I did start doing something, I would think "oh! this needs to be done too!" and I would abandon whatever I was working on at the time. I never had anything finished, so it never looked like I did anything at all, lol.

Might I suggest the following link? I just signed up last week. I will happily pay someone else to get rid of my junk mail. http://www.41pounds.org/

I also sign up for paperless billing whenever I can. I no longer forget to mail my check and I feel better about saving a tree.

NEVER EVER EVER EVER go to a store when you are hungry or angry.

This applies to department stores (Sears/JC Penney/etc) or when going to the supermarket.

You'll end up with lots of stuff you won't need and later feel bad about it.

Get yourself a minute timer and set for half an hour, set a task for yourself and see how much you can get done.
This can help break the procrastination habit.
About socks, pin the pairs together with a safety pin when laundering them so one of them doesn't end up here.

Whoa - you're way ahead of me. First I need to learn how to bake - or cook food in ways that don't involve a microwave.

washing up/kitchen dishes

I find if I just do dishes immediately and put them away (not cutlery, pots or glasses - they don't take up much room on the sink), the kitchen looks tidy. It's easy too. If you have a relapse and end up with dishes piling up (everyone does), just get back into it. I live alone so this works for me, I don't know about people who live with others.

a) Get rid of the dish rack, buy 6 tea towels.
b) Wash any plate or bowl immediately after use, dry and put away.
c) Unwashed cutlery, glasses and mugs can sit on the sink (use a mug to soak the cutlery), pots can sit on the stove.

Yeah, I don't use a drying rack. There wouldn't be space on my counter anyway. I wash a bunch of plates and stuff, dry them with a dish towel, and put them away immediately.

I was just thinking exactly that! Um - roasting stuff - cleaning? A lot of the stuff on this thread is a bit like a foreign language to me!

And I thought I was the only person who used paper plates/plastic cutlery to save on the washing-up!

When you move out, and you see that the house-label mushroom soup is considerably cheaper.. dont buy 6-12 cans. Try it first. Cheap canned goods are often pretty watery and bland. Buy two house and two campbells.

also one of my sisters friends moved out of his place and he left a magnet on the refridgerator and they kept his entire deposit. so he drove by one day and threw a brick in the window haha. moral of the story? take everything off the fridge if you want your deposit back

lifting up the top part of the stove and cleaning it is also a good idea, and so is that thing above the stove with the fan and light

thanks for al the advices, ..

I do live independent, somewhat though, but why is harder for me now than the first year I left ? ( I'm in my early 20's now )...
Sometimes I catch myself thinking if is really possible for an 'aspie' live for their own , ? cause you know .. feeding yourself, do the shopping, studying at the same time ( in my case ), and do laundry an everything else seems to be harder for me now than before, .. why ? But, I do really want to continue being by my own ( the solitude moments since I'm 'here' gave me lots of satisfactions in the past ).. and somehow returning now to my 'old home city' it's seems pretty a much horrible idea to me now, and I would feel like a 'loser' ... It has happened anytime to you that sometimes you only wants to look up to the future, .. not going back under any circunstance ?
Is that an aspie 'trait' ? .. or is just anxiety of going 'back' ?
Are the 'aspies' really capable to be by their own ?

When washing dishes, especially plastic, you dont have to rely on your eyes. give the newly rinced item a good sniff; you'll know right away if its clean.

prepair in the event of jobloss, medical bills, car broken down, nessissary purchase by keeping your credit clean. Assume someday something bad will happen that could set ya back, then when/if it happens you will be prepaired.
