If she'd rather be on the Internet, than watching American Idol.

That's not AS, that's common sense...

I was on my way to memorizing "Rent", but then the chorus teacher made a bunch of us come in to sing as part of a demonstration for parents of possible incoming freshmen. The night was set up[ with about 12 gorups rotating around. I ended up having to sing "Seasons of Love" 12 times over in the span of 2 hours... I thought that it wouldn't be a problem (when I'm trying to learn a piece of music, I listen to it around 50x over, so this shouldn't be a problem), but by about the 5th time through, I was sick of it. By the time the night was over, I had developed a new loathing of the play "Rent" that I didn't think was possible, and I still carry it to this day...

Oh, and yes, I do have perfect pitch...

If your teen complains that you want them to skip an entire day of school, and travel to the city (on a shuttle) to attend one 45 minute doctor appointment, and have the rest of the day to do whatever they please.

They can memorize the pattern on the ceiling within days, but can't remember all their classmates' names after a whole semester. (my personal one)

Very curious. That would imply either a developed tolerance, or an innate difference in the Substance P/vanilloid receptor subtype 1 (TRPV1) neurotransmitter systems.

Apart from this, does this child display more anxiety or ADD/ADHD symptoms?

Your child may have AS if he/she:

Criticizes Google for only allowing 10 search terms for each search, and for not supporting all possible Boolean operators.

If they read this and think, "Why would it take days to memorize patterns on ceiling tiles? Even ones with dots can be figured out out aftter about 10 minutes and you could easily do 5 in a typical class period."

Your child may have Aspergers if he is obsessive-compulsive over cleaning everything or acts like King Kong on Richter 9.99 X 10 to the infinite power.

Your child may have Asperger's if the dictionary is one of her favorite books.

Your child may have Asperger's if she greets you by saying, "Let's talk about insects."

lol! The play I recited and sang to at 4 was "Oklahoma".

Haha. Mine was 'Annie'. I'm still the same way with musicals though, for some reason I've always had an affinity for them. Usually I get stuck on a particular CD and listen to it over and over for months, and 7 times out of 10 it's a musical. Right now I'm on the new Hairspray soundtrack.

When I was ten, my goal was to memorize the entire dictionary (and I do mean the entire one, completel with the pronunciation etc). Thankifully I didn't have access to a dictionary then or I might still be working on that.

When I was about that age I made a goal to learn a new word from the dictionary everyday going alphabetically. I don't think I ever made it past D.

I love this thread!

What my children have also done:

- complained that the children at kindergarten are 'dreadfullly noisy' and they wished only the teachers were there and not the kids

- complained that they hate lunchtime at school because it is 'so boring' and they wish they could do schoolwork all day

- at age 4 took their favourite dinosaur book to kindergarten and had to correct the teacher's attempt at pronoucing the dinosaur names
